Rain, Rain Go Away!

The two trees are part of our yard, NOT the creek!
Another view of trees in creek.
In front of the swing is a grassy area "by" the creek.

Here in lower Michigan we have been "blessed" with torrential rain downpours, nonstop since Friday. It really kicked in Saturday afternoon and has been relentless ever since! I thought after "Ike" blew thru yesterday evening it would let up. Well, it didn't, it rained all darn night and we are still getting rain! I can see a light at the end of the tunnel though, as south of us I can see some blue sky poking thru.

This has to be the worst I have ever seen it, and even most of the surrounding area schools are closed due to flooding. As I have mentioned before, we live on a creek, I mean right on it! It is now a river and our yard looks like a lake. We are lucky though, as we are up a slight embankment and are safe from any flooding in the house. I am sharing a few photos of the creek!
However, I am very grateful we don't have to endure what the people of Texas and Louisianna have had to put up with, my heart goes out to all of them!

Alphabet Scrap Cards

This isn't my normal "style", but I have a couple of grandbabies that will be two, one in October and one in Decemeber, so I decided to make them cards that maybe could stand a little rough handling! I was at Michael's and saw these bright animal rub ons, yes really these are rub ons, and they were only $1, but these were the hardest rub-ons I have EVER used, they just didn't want to come off the paper! I basically used up a lot of the SU bold brights scrap papers I had and also some chipboard letters . I only needed 2 cards, but decided to just use them all up. There were a few images left of the rub-ons, but I tossed them, as they just were a pain!

I'm So Lucky!!

Mariah, (16), is my son Scott's daughter.
Mariah and Ally (14), is my daughter Lori's oldest daughter.

I am so lucky to have such beautiful granddaughters! Last evening was the Miss Apple and Jr. Miss Apple Festival pageant. Two of my granddaughters competed in the competition, one in each of the categories. Mariah , 16, was in the 5 finalists and won Miss Congeniality! I think that is such an honor, as she was selected by all her fellow competitors. Ally is 14 and she tried out for the Jr. Miss. One thing about Ally, she is a super sweet girl and even though she didn't place, she was totally supportive of the winning girls. That's my Ally!

Cuttlebug Halloween Pumpkins

A simple Halloween card using the Cuttlebug pumpkin vine embossing folder and the Happy Halloween die/embossing folder. I really like this little die cut as it can be used just plain. I do wish, however, they would of made it a fall embossing folder rather then the happy halloween, I could of gotten lots more "mileage" with it! I colored in the pumpkin and vines with SU Stampin Pastels chalk. My picture isn't the greatest, as its raining cats and dogs here and is gloomy and dark! I love the Cuttlebug folders, but I struggle with them, as its so hard to cover them with other embellishments, so I have to get beyond that!

Teapot Tuesday Challenge #11

I discovered another neat challenge on a blog called This Is My Story (HERE) . She posts a new teapot every Tuesday and you are to design a card using her teapot as inspiration. This is a great one for me, as I have lots of teapots myself , so I love seeing hers.

I used my CB to emboss the top part of my card, the pumpkin stamp is an oldie and a favorite of mine, I colored it with SU Stampin Pastels chalk, the ribbon is some Halloween I bought just recently, the DS paper I just bought in the last few days and it is perfect for this challenge! I cut a few Maple leaves out with my Quickkutz and added a few "jewels" for the flowers. In the center of one of the flowers is an orange button that represents the Teapot "lid"...a fun challenge!!!

"Wing It" Detroit Red Wings!!!!! Challenge

Here is the card I made for the challenge "From Courtney's Closet this week. This one was different, we were to make a card representing one of our favorite sports teams...or at least use the color scheme. My Mom is a Detroit Red Wings BIGTIME fan, so I designed my card with her in mind, I am going to send her this card just as a joke and see if she can figure it out! If you look real close at the top of the card the DS paper I used looks like the Redwing...somewhat!! Of course the stamp is a Bella Stamp that just so happened to have skates. I used my Just Rite Stamper to make the "Wing It" sentiment...I know its silly, but you gotta know my 81 year old Mom to appreciate it!!
