Clean and Layering

It's 4am and I have been up since 2am...
another sleepless night in Michigan....
which means I will be worthless by about 2pm..LOL

So, while I was wide awake and bushy tailed....
I decided to look for a challenge that appealed to me
I came across a new "kid on the block" so to speak
and loved every bit of it!!

The challenge is "The Card Concept"
Wow...beautiful work by the design team...
beautiful entries....
you should visit there and see how it works.....very creative and fun!

I choose to do "Clean and Layering" using the inspiration piece
Monochromatic "pink".....

I picked this as I have all these little bags full of things I have cut, colored
or just not used because it just wasn't right for the project I was working on
and being the OCD person I am, they are all sorted by color..
Everything on this card was in the "pink" bag, making it come together quite nicely!!

Think Pink

Hello Friends, this is my post today at the
Classy Cards 'n Such blog......
I hope you will join in the challenge with us this week.....
I would love to "see you" there!!

Hello Classy Friends.....Diane here with you today on the Classy Cards 'n Such blog!!
The challenge on the blog this week is "Think Pink".....won't you join us???
When I was a young girl (longer ago then we want to talk about)
my favorite color was pink!!
Though not my first favorite today, (it's yellow now) I still love the girlie pinks!!

My card was created with some of the beautiful "NEW"
things Beverly has stocked in her store.

My card base is the gorgeous Stardream Fuse Azalea Metallic paper.
The background paper is from a beautiful 12 x 12 double sided paper
by KaiserCraft called "Key To My Heart".
The leaf vine is a die by Poppy Stamps "Leafy Sprig Border"
"Climbing" up the Leafy Sprig Border are tiny miniature roses.
The roses were constructed using Cheery Lynn Designs "Miniature Rose"
and "painted" with TH marker "Worn Lipstick" and water.

The darling birdhouse is a Cheery Lynn Designs "Birdhouse With Lattice".
It cuts so beautifully, that I couldn't stop at one, and cut several for further use!!
The birdhouse is hung with Doodle Twine, green from the "Bright Assortment".
I added the little hummingbird, also a
Cheery Lynn Designs "Tiny Things With Wings".

The sentiment from JustRite "Natures Nested Sentiments" .  (A litle hint: these stamps are on clearance, very reasonable...get them before they are gone) I took this stamp and the rest of the set and
mounted them on Ez Mount Static Cling Foam..works perfectly and the set has some great sentiments.

Last, I couldn't resit making a matching envelope from the same gorgeous KaiserCraft

"Key To My Heart" 12 x 12 paper.  Aren't these roses gorgeous??
Perfect~perfect for envelopes using the WR Memory Keepers "punch board".

That's it for today...please join us in the challenge, and maybe "YOU" just might be the
lucky winner this week!!  Thanks for "stopping by"!!!

Card In A Box

So, last night  my mood was, well lets just say "rock bottom low"
and guess what I woke this morning with the same "rock bottom low" mood!!
So I grabbed a cuppa and started to look around at blogs, pinterest etc...
and all of a sudden out of nowhere pops up this blog with this wonderful
tutorial on how to make a "Card In A Box".....

it was LOVE at first sight...it was meant to be...it made me excited...
it took me out of the rotten mood zone and put me back on track!!

so, now I have to tell you I haven't been this excited since...well I don't know when!!
and I also have to warn you that this is a "heavy picture" post!!
I tried to take pictures from several different angles....

I made this particular card for two reasons...
1.  I want to send something nice to the nursing home my Aunt Janice is in...
something she can set out and enjoy!

2.  I have been racking my brain of what to come up with this week for the
challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs which is "add a flourish"...I think I got it nailed!!
I used Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish!!

This the back where you can stamp your sentiment, write a message
and the back panel is what gives your card it's stability  .

This is the card folded up to mail...
yes, it folds up "FLAT" to mail...
you will just need to make an envelope large enough to hold
the little pieces that are sticking out!!!

this is what it looks like before you decorate it
(pardon my mess on my desk)

so, do you want to try one yourself??
you do...great...go here for the printed tutorial and
for the video tutorial as well!!

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Love Struck

While "waiting" for another snow storm to "arrive"
I started working on this cute little Valentine.....
Isn't this  just the cutest little vintage couple??

In December I did the challenge at "Crafty Secrets" and for a Christmas gift
the owner "Sandy" gave us all a free digital download of our choice....
I chose this darling Valentine package which included my cute couple!!

I accented the image with lots of Stickles, that you can see better in person
then on the card itself!!

I gave her a little heart to hold, do suppose she is going to give it to him??
I think they better look out, as it looks like the little cupid is going to be doing his job!!

Challenges entered:

Crafty Secrets "Love "
and
Sugar Creek Hollow  "Love and Adore"
and
MelonHeadzFriends "Valentine/Love"
and

All That Glitters In Love ~ At The Shabby Tea Room

Hello All,
Today I am guest designing at "The Shabby Tea Room"
for the All That Glitters In Love Challenge
The challenge is using the inspiration photo shown...
using pink, red, burgandy, flowers, hearts and glitter!

I have been doing The Shabby Tea Room challenges for quite some time
and feel so honored to be a guest designer there once again.....
I had lots of fun with this challenge and was able to dig in my stash
and use all kinds of fun things.

The roses were sprayed with Tattered Angels Cherry Red, but
actually so was I, whoops....I also used TH Distressed Glitter
Brick Red...but while I was making my card I also had striped
my bed, the dryer had shut off, so I ran to pull the mattress out,
and well, long story short, it now has red glitter on it....
I bet my hubby wonders what I do during the day while he is gone..LOL.

I also used a just dropped off by the man in brown, my new Zutter Bow It All.
After watching the video about 10 times, I gave it a try.....
I think I need to watch it an 11th time!!

So, I hope you head over to The Shabby Tea Room and join in the challenge this week!!

What Does The Fox Say??

Hi All....this is my post today on the Classy Cards 'n Such blog!
Make sure and visit and don't forget we have a "NEW" challenge starting every Monday

Hi, Diane here with you once again with my cute little Valentine Fox card.
I am sure you all have heard the little jingle "what does the fox say"??
It seems you are seeing little foxes everywhere, wrapping paper, on shirts,
ornaments and so on.

That is what gave me the inspiration for this little fellow.  He is made with one of the new
line of "stencils" that is now in the shop at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I have to admit (now this is
going to sound like the old "my dog ate my homework routine", but it is the truth!
When I first started out to use my Fox Stencil, I had purchased some Metallic Copper
Embossing Paste, which I used on my stencil and he was "drying" on my desk.  Well I have a {crafter kitty} that at the worst moment decided to jump on my creative desk...all I can say is I now have bits of Metallic Copper Embossing Paste on my carpet
.  The Metallic Copper Fox will "visit" another day!
Enough said!
I embossed my Fox Stencil onto card stock like you would normally emboss a Spellbinders die, then
water colored him entirely with TH Distressed Marker "Rusty Hinge"...I didn't spend a lot
of time filling him in, as I wanted a "fur" look.
After he was dry (with no cat mishap), I mounted him on a piece of Graphic 45 paper,
which was popped up on an embossed background using the "dots" embossing folder.
My little heart is a Spellbinders die which is included in the set Vintage Label & Banner die set.
Other products used are Joy! Foam Pads Large. 1/2" Scor-Tape
and
there is a nice selection of paper HERE to choose from
On a last note, what does the fox say??  On the inside of my card, it says "I love you"!!
See you soon!!!

Tea For Two

Well, it's snowing again here...
cold and very dreary....
what better way to let it not get to me then to be in my creative room...

This week at The Shabby Tea Room the challenge is "warm and cozy"
using the inspiration photo and the colors white/cream and teapots and/or cups!

I have a love for any tea/coffee dies and stamps...
have a nice "hoarders" collection of them...
the "almost" hardest part of the challenge was choosing which one to use!!
and I wish you could see  this is person...all the cups, teapots and banner
pieces are "popped" up....so cute and is much more delicate then it shows!!

Just before Christmas, Cottage Cutz had all their dies at half off.....
I have had this die on my wish list for sometime....
the super adorable teapot and cup border die.....
I first cut out a base and then 8 more times with various DS paper to piece!
I topped each little creamer and pot with a pearl for the lid..

I added pretty cream roses trim, a paper bow  and a tiny "tea 4 2 banner" ...

I couldn't decide if I wanted to use the border die in all it's length or cut it in half

...
I left it as is, but now have another one in mind for cutting in half...that will come later,

I am making this a fast post, as my hands are so cold it's hard to type!!

Products used:
Cheery Lynn Designs dies:  pretty pretty bows, tags 4
Cottage Cutz:  Tea Time Border
SU:  Roses trim,  Alphabits stamps, 1/4" round punch
