A Bit of This and That

This is a bit picture heavy and NO cards today
just a post of some of my flowers and the crazy weather we have had since Friday.
I haven't been online much as the storms have been horrific with lightning and
torrential downpours.
Here is a picture of our nasty weather.

Now on to more pleasant things.
I was able to grab these photos last week before all the rains.
Below is our crab apple tree coming into bloom.

Next is a Redbud tree I planted as just a tiny stick.
It grew like wildfire.

Next is a Sand Cherry bush next to the house.

Growing beside the Sand Cherry is an Oregon Gold Bush.
This came as a tiny plant from a garage sale.

These mini (and early bloomers) Iris are planted on
my beloved Nellie dog's grave.

The last picture is of Mr and Mr's Mallard's eggs,
deposited right in the middle of my flower (weed) garden.
I was working weeding one day and had no idea they were there
until the Mrs. flew up into my face and scared the 'bejebbers' out of me!!
But on a sad note, I peeked at them on Mother's Day and only one egg remains
and it was covered in ants...no remains of shells or anything,
so whatever got them, it carried the eggs off...sigh!

I will be back next week with more flowers to share, as they bloom...
hope I haven't bored you too much, but I LOVE my flower gardens!

Pink Heaven Trumpet Lilies~Plant for Hope

I purchased these lily bulbs this Spring at Walmart for $5.......WOW.....it has to be the best $5 I have spent on bulbs in a long time...these are stunning...they smell so strong...about 5 times more powerful then an Easter Lily...I was afraid the deer would smell them and eat them all up!!  For every package you bought of the Pink Heaven ,30 cents was donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.....a plant for Hope!!  It's hard to describe the size, but each lily was 6" long and about as wide.....I will be looking for more of these....just had to share the beauty of these!!!

My Projects For The last WEEKS...lol!!

I have been pretty lax with my creativity, but I have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather (cept' for Saturday and Sunday) we have been having and working outside 10 to 12 hour days...thought I would share a bit of what I have been doing and where we live.....this is just a small part of my gardens...I have several!

The Lilac was just a "stick" a few years ago given to me from my brotherinlaw..it is gorgeous and smells heavenly!  The creek meanders throughout our property...I saw this "cabin" years ago, right after we had purchased a new home....mentioned that if it ever went up for sale I wanted it.....about 3 years later, it was ours...we went from about 5/8 of an acre to 11 or so...lots of upkeep, lots of mowing, the house is 60 or more years old, its very needy, but we LOVE it...enjoy the photos...and I will be back with some things later this week!

Bloom Baby Bloom!!

No card post today...I am still sick! But, I have this gorgeous Hydrangea to show you. I have 3 of these later bloomers, in about 3 weeks the white cone shaped flowers will change to a sage green and vintage pink combo. I just love them! It has been so dry here, my used to be gorgeous flower gardens are dying! No amount of watering has really helped, plus they are really too big for me to continue watering! Click on photo for a better "view"!

Think Spring

I am soooooooooo wanting the cold to go away and Spring to get here. It has been a cold and brutal winter here in Michigan, and I think everyone agrees we have had it!! It is very windy out today and it is to warm up to about 42, for us, that will be like summer compared to the below zero and sub zero temps we have had for months!
So, with all that being said, as I am working on new cards and projects to post, I decided I would share a photo from my garden last year of one of my very favorite flowers Verbascum. I don't much care for the plant itself, but the flower more than makes up for it. The ones I have planted, have a vintage look to them that I just love. I have them in about 3 colors and am forever searching for new varieties! Enjoy.....hopefully Spring will be here soon!
