A Splash of Brown PDCC125

The challenge at the Play Date Cafe this week is....
black~white~and a "splash" of brown....
I wish you could see this card "in real life" so to speak...
it is so pretty!!
I sewed around the edges of my background paper.....
made my flower with a EK Success flower punch....
the "swirls" behind it are from a Maryanne die....
my butterfly, which happens to be my splash of brown was cut out of white cardstock...
and then inked with a VersaMMagic Dew Drop "Sahara Sand chalk ink...
the die for the butterfly is from Cheery Lynn...
the color combo reminds me for some reason of an old joke from grade school...
"What is black and white and read all over?"
Answer:  a newspaper...silly hmmm!!!

Post It Notes Holder

This week at Joan's Garden's the challenge is to make a "post it note" holder.....
use the color purple.....
a die cut background....
a flower...

and a butterfly or something of nature.....
My background die cut was made on my Cricut using the Mother's Day cartridge cut at 2 3/4"....
the flower was using the Cheery Lynn Designs miniature rose die.....
I had gone to their web page and watched a video where the tiny rose was cut several times on several layers of crepe paper, then the edges inked with a Copic.....
the flower reminds me of a carnation this way....
both the leaf die and the rose die can be purchased at Joan's Gardens......

Easter Clouds

Crazy title, I know, but,
I had to share one of my new background stamps with you from Impression Obsession...
these stamps are HUGE...5 3/4 square....
don't you just love the background...it looks like DS paper!!
So far I have purchased 2 of these.....
they take a Mega acrylic block to stamp with....
I found mine at Ellen Hutson....
I want to own them all...sigh!!!
I am entering this card in the challenge at "The Play Date Cafe"...
I cut my chick and egg on my Cricut......
had to do something simple, as my hand is still numb from the Oct surgery I had....

Pinterest Challenge

Flourishes has a challenge for their March release using this Pinterest image for the color challenge...
this is rather a simple card......
but time...
and my "healing" hand are issues in my creating this week...
I used my flourish set "April Showers" .....

hope to be back with more later!!

It's One of Those Days

You ever have "one of those days".....
where everything you touch seems to be a disaster??
That is how my next two projects were....almost funny...(almost)!!
I decided to do a challenge at "Less Is More"....
one layer card and a script.....
My first card I did was nice, but the sentiment I stamped, just didn't seem right.....
so I redid my card...but noticed the upper right corner was bent.....
so I then rounded the corners, but you could still see it....
then got the bright idea to use an edge punch...
okay, but then it made my sentiment too close to the edge...
so added a strip of paper to the "inside" edge of the card....
after all it is a one layer card.....
so, this morning I redid it...this time embossing the script...
pretty neat, but as I was reaching across for the sentiment, I drug my robe sleeve....
unbeknowns to me, thru my coffee cup...which in turn dripped all over my card....

the card became a tag.....
so here you have it....my disaster of a challenge......
funny, but for some reason I am NOT laughing...ha!

Simple & Fun St Patrick's Day Banner

I made this small and simple St Pattys Day banner for my kitchen......
I just wanted something to hang across a shelf I had decorated with milk glass for St Patty's Day.....
It was mostly made with scraps.....
the tinsel was some I found when I was cleaning my creative room....
the rosette was a xmas one, that I just place a shamrock over to cover
the papers are some of my very old scrapbook papers.....
simple...but I like it...
also want to mention that the "shelf" is one I found at a garage sale last year for $11.50...
I can't wait til they start up again!!!
I am entering it in the challenge a tthe  "Decorate to Celebrate" blog...

the theme is St Patrick's Day Party
why don't you join in, too!!!

Trash To Treasure Challenge

Took a break from my sewing (which I will post soon :>) )....
and did a "Trash To Treasure" challenge from Sugar Creek Hollow....
when this challenge "emerged", I had to laugh, as I had just cut up a box I thought I could "reuse"
from Bath & Bodyworks...only problem was, we had to show our "trash" item before we used it.....
so I taped it somewhat back together......
I cut my butterflies with a SU Sizzix die...this is a pretty thick container, but it cut like butter.....

the ribbon I used is also from the same box......
my vintage look paper is from Prima ...............

Photo Inspiriation Challenge

I made this fun...shabby...vintage card for the
to use a photo for inspiration
I chose this Spring Wreath photo I had pinned on Pinterest
originally from  I Heart Naptime Blog
I had this frame stamp out for another project and the little bird "button" sitting on my desk....
punched the tiny banner from scraps, stamped Spring on it....
dug around for a few feathers....
hand cut the eggs...and covered one with baby blue stickles....
the hardest part was deciding which photo to let inspire me!!

Bookmark Card

Well.  I can hardly believe I haven't posted in a week....
I have been in a "panic" to get some things done before "outside" garden time...
I have a list "a mile long" it seems of things to do before Spring.....
one of those was to take all my glassware out of my glass display case in my bedroom
wash it all and put it back.....
it took me two days to get it all out and washed ...(I do seem to have a lot)
and then got the bright idea while the stuff was out to paint the bedroom....
it just got finished on Saturday...
now I have to put all the glassware back...
I have been collecting crystal pedestal bowls, as well as clear glass candy jars.....
its beautiful...but lots of work to keep it all shiny and clean!!
and thanks to "Pinterest"..I now have to make up my mind on how to redecorate the room......
I have pinned several different idea's.....but on to today's project

I did the challenge at Flourishes timeless Tuesday...
we were to make a corner bookmark.
a last minute entry...and one I am not in love with...
but it is prettier IRL...as I added some glitter to the purple flowers for sparkle...
the set I used is the brand new January release from Flourishes "Love Sweet Love"......

Coffee With Friends

I got up early this morning to an entire new screen on my computer...
did I ask for it???
heck, no...nor do I want it....
I couldn't find my mail....
nor my favorites.....
ugh...why do things have to change without you having any say....

I did manage to get a card done for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday.....
the challenge is to make a card for someone you love and to use red....
much as I love Valentines...I am "Valentined" out so to speak....
so I made a card for a friend I love and miss....
I just purchased some new "Moda" fabric and made my shabby flower from a piece of that....
the stamp set I used is from Flourishes called "Coffee With A Friend"....
it has always been a favorite of mine...

Butterflies & Leaves

Just a quickie post as I am heading off to bed....
Papertrey has  anew challenge to use butterflies and leaves....
I used Papertrey "Make A Bough" stamps for my leaves and branch....
the butterflies are a SU Sizzix die....
the flowers are a MS punch......
short and sweet, but I can hardly stay awake!!

Magic of Love

Happy Monday...the day "before" Valentines Day...
I have made this super simple card for "my Valentine" ....
He is not a hearts and flowers type of guy..but a tractor ridin" beer drinkin" man...lol...
so no hearts and flowers for him!!
I kept it simple with a Queen of Hearts embossing folder.....
another one of my $1 stamp finds from Joann's...
and a bit of gingham ribbon...pretty much it......
I struggle to make "manly" cards cuz I am a
hearts and flowers kind of girl!!
I am entering this in the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge to make a Masculine Valentine
in a vintage, shabby chic or primtive way......am hoping it fits the "primitive" mode.....
I figured since I have a few black smears on it, it fit prim...lol.....
and he won't notice it anyhow!!

Less Is More Challenge~One Layer & Stripes

This week Chrissie & Mandi at "Less Is More" challenged us to a one layer card and stripes.....
I had fun with this one...and the idea's just kept coming...
that being said...I made 3 cards.....
the first is my elephant birthday card......
the stripes are from a SU set called "So Happy"....they reminded me of a circus tent....
so that is how the elephant came into mind....
.the stamp is one of the $1 Michael's stamps I seem to be "collecting" lately.....
I added stickles to the balloons to give the card a bit of "bling"....
the sentiment is a Hero Arts...
the second card is using a new Paper Studio embossing folder I just bought....
Hobbylobby had them for 40% off...so for $3 I couldn't resist.....
the folder is actually a "notebook paper"...but I just left some of it off.....
it reminded of a white picket fence.....
and what is a fence without a cat walking along it...right??
this is just a little thank you card using an old 1991 stamp from Marks of Distinction....
the sentiment is from SU.....
My last card is using those Martha Stewart craft stencils I had a post on earlier......
I looked at this one as a "stripe" of leaves.....the flower was just overstamped and it is also a $1 stamp from Michael's...
the sentiment is from Flourishes....
the ink I used is from SU..Certainly Celery~Old Olive and my new favorite Poppy Parade...
I think this is all from me for this challenge...thanks for looking!!!

You've Been Framed

The noon time challenge for Flourishes new release is "you've been framed"....
I have been seeing several round cards on challenges/blogs lately and decided to do a round card...
I used my Flourishes stamp "April Showers".....
for the "frame" I cut out a frame on Cricut using the Storybook cartridge...
the lace doily is a store bought one....didn't have the time to make my own...
I colored my image in with my small selection of Copics.....

Hello Friend

I made this card for the Timeless Tuesday #155 at Flourishes.....
this Tuesday the challenge is to use a bird....
I am using the Flourish set "Friendly Reminders"....
I colored it in with Copics...go easy my Copic "stock" is limited....
I used a Nestie to cut the image out....
the flower I made with an EK Sucess flower punch called "Carnations"....
I would of preferred the DS paper to run the other way.....but this is the only way it fit....
I will probably be back today with one more post for the Flourish noon time challenge...

see ya then!!

Pinterest Challenge at Papertrey Ink

Today it's a "Pinterest" challenge at Papertrey Ink....
right up my alley so to speak....
I am a Pinterest addict....
we were to either use what a member of the DT chose for inspiration....or
choose one of our own...
I had this cupcake garland pinned on one of my boards and decided to go with it...
you can find the original link HERE
I am again, using the bitty background set from Papertrey Ink...
I stamped all my cupcake wrappers and paper pieced them together.....
a fun~fun challenge...

you are welcome to check out my pin boards with the RED Pinterest link on the right.....

Flourishes Noon Time Challenge Part One

This is my card I made for Flourishes Noon Time Challenge Part 1....
Every month Flourishes has a new release and new challenges....
I chose my Flourish stamps "Easter Lily"....
I love this image, as not only can it be an Easter Lily as intended, but also any color lily you would want!
The cardstock I used was Blushing Bride...a perfect color I think
I used a "new to me" embossing folder.....
a stick pin...which is hard to see, but has a pearl, a crystal and a real sterling silver ball....
the ribbon is sheer and I have yet to get a good photo of sheer ribbon....
There will be a second noon time challenge today...love these!!

We Make A Perfect Fit

This week at Papertrey Inks "Make It Monday" with "Erin" is "Double Sided Stamped Die Cuts"
whoa...that's a mouth full!!
I have to admit this challenge had me stumped....
but after being annoyingly (is that a word?) kept awake last night by the cat...
I came up with this idea which I am so excited about.....
FABRIC BOLTS......
You die cut your shape, then stamp on both sides and roll one side up to expose that side....
I used a Papertrey die for my "fabric" and stamped both sides with "Bitty Background Blocks"
I have to add that I use this set over and over again.....
the details on the stamp are so small and perfect ...
it works wonderful on all those little banners I make as well as patterned flowers.....
the sentiment is from "Button Boutique".....
the link is above if you want to give it a tryor just to see all the other creativeness!!

Raining Flowers

This week City Crafters Challenge is "the colors of the rainbow".....
I used my new Martha Stewart stencils to sponge on my colors...
have you seen these yet??
they are wonderful...look at the doily ones (photo below)...
I love these...they clean up so well...I used a baby wipe....
the other elements of my card I used some stickers I bought at Joann's for $1...
I rarely, if ever would use a sticker...but I loved these....
all the flowers as well as the "rain on me" girl come on pop up adhesive....
also want to thank all my new followers.....
and also for all the nice comments...I try to visit everyone back...
but I am behind...but I will visit if I can...
I have been having some trouble leaving comments on the typepad blogs for some reason....

Vintage Mermaids

My card today is featuring "Mermaids"...
The base of the card is SU Marina Mist cardstock...
The DS paper is from My Minds Eye Lost and Found which I stamped a Unity "Beach Day" stamp....
and a lighthouse from Rubber Stampede ..... I used a glitter pen on the rays....
the Mermaids are a vintage image from "The Graphic Fairy"....
I added a garland of starfish that were punched from "sandpaper"...perfect!
Added a few pearls "found at sea"...really, they were...LOL...
