Wonderful Washi

Did another challenge today that I have been meaning to do for months
and FINALLY found some time today!

I used Poppystamps Adriana Small Curve Border
my first time using it!

I also used 3 different washi tapes I have had forever.
I used to have a lot more but my dog Mack when a puppy
got into a craft drawer I had left open and chewed most of them up
but I did at least have these three that seemed to work with my die cute.

I also spattered gold paint on then when dry
stamped the sentiment using Potters Clay ink.
I have never had good luck with my washi tapes sticking down good
so I ran a piece of scor tape under each strip,
that washi is going nowhere!

Entering the following challenges:
NBUS .... Never Before Used Stuff
Poppy Challenge .... Wonderful Washi

Timeless Tuesday #116

Fourishes Timeless Tuesday this week is to create a kids card.....I grabbed a bunch of my "kiddo's" stamps and was all set to go, when out of my "stash" drawer was this little turtle peeking out at me.....he is is left over from a year or so ago from a candy swap I did.....part of a "Turtles" chocolate packaging...so the little guy was put to good use in a card...the ribbon is a last scrap I had, the flowers on the tree were punched from a piece of scrap paper...feels so good to "use up" some of my "leftovers"...will (might) add a sentiment at the time he is sent out......
Not sure how much more posting I will get done until Sunday as I won't have computer access after noon today until Sunday night......and I have alot I had wanted to post.....sigh!!

Shabby Tea Room Challenge

Still doing challenges........my Trellis Card made the honorable mentions again this week...I feel so honored as there were some gorgeous entries........this week at The Shabby Tea Room it was a beautiful color combo of soft blue and white or cream.....I new as soon as I saw this color combo I would be pulling out my bashful blue cardstock!  I used a die cut I have had for quite sometime and added flowers and feathers to her...the little "tag" at the bottom has "For You" stamped inside...the ribbon I just purchased at a garage sale...can you believe it was a new package of 8 different ribbons and 4 of them were my favorite..... "gingham"..what a find...lol....and all for 50 cents!!!  I love how she kind of "glows" with her feather wings!
Scroll on down if you would like as I have my 2 tags posted and they are quite different from each other...thanks!
PS:...when I get to 100 followers I will be adding "blog candy"!!

Tag Tuesday Color Combo ~ Blue & Green

Here is my tag for Tag Tuesday...this week it was a color combo of blue and green.....look closely and you can see my green...the bird cage is a light olive green and the flower centers are green bling!  Between this challenge and the Tag challenge from Joan's Garden's, I am getting quite a supply of tags.....good thing, as I need 3 for gifts this week!
The flowers I used for this are from Michael's from the bridal section...they had a bunch of these on clearance a few years ago and I bought several containers.......the bird cage is cut with my Cricut...the cartridge  has several different bird cages on it which I love as I can cut them any size needed!  I distressed the edges of my tag and stamped a flourish image which is what I "hung" the bird cage from....thats about it

Joan's Gardens Tag Challenge

I was finally able to make a tag this week for Joan's Gardens Weekly Tag Challenge.  My entire tag was made based on the lavendar scrap of ribbon sitting on my desk....the ribbon tie looks a different color then the ribbon bow...but its not...it's all the same color...just a trick of the light I guess...or should say "what light", as its dark and dreary and raining cats and dogs today!
The base of the flower is one we made at the workshop at Joan's last month...just a sample of what they had done on the day before......I like how the tag has a "vintage" look to it......if you like my tag you can "vote" for me at Joan's...just click on the tab at the top of her blog.....voting starts in  about 4 days...and thank you to those that voted for me last week........see you tomorrow with another challenge...hopefully!

Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

The April challenge from PTI this month was all about men or boys...make a masculine or a boy card......now I have to admit this is my weakest spot in card making....I much prefer making "girlie" cards....I had to get real creative this month...I used Papertrey's Take A Bough for both cards...those little round ornaments come in really handy ..... making it a very useful set year round.  The ribbon on the first card is a Twill also from Papertrey.....I love twill ribbon and it seems a good choice for "boys"...the sentiment was computer generated.

The second card I cut a tree base from my Cricut and stamped the polka dot ornament from the same set, punched it out and made my tree top
to make it a "bit" more "manly"... I tied a washer on my ribbon...funny!

Less Is More Challenge ~ Off Centre ~

This week the Less Is More Challenge is "off centre"  or "center" as we call it here.... you would think this would be a simple challenge for me, but I "trashed" 6 cards before I decided to rethink it...those darn hot air balloons anyways........so my card is double off center..I stamped the background image off center and added my glittery butterfly off center (not to mention the sentiment).   I have a friend that her Dad passed away last week, so this card will go in the mail to her today.....I wanted to mention the background stamp has been in my stash for 7 years.....this is the first it has seen ink.....I have a few other ideas for it... I kind of like it!  I would love to have you as a "follower"...am trying to reach a goal...and comments are always welcome!  Ink used was SU Kiwi Kiss and Basic Black...butterfly was cut with from a SU Beautful Wings die...sentiment is also from SU.....

Added this second card to this post...as it is somewhat off center, too...I made this one a few weeks back ....

Flourishes Spring Has Sprung Challenge

I made this card by the seat of pants so to say...the challenge closes in 34 minutes.....I just got back from the dance recital and decided to do this Flourishes Spring Has Sprung Challenge.....I used an Easter stamp set I purchased from Flourishes last year called Easter Baskets.....love it!  The challenge was to use green grass~robins egg blue and daffodil,,,I first stamped a chocolate bunny and then masked him off and then stamped two more...so the bunnies you see in the basket are all one piece....and here I am again using gingham ribbon...I have to confess, I just bought 8 new Spring colors of gingham ribbon!

Flourishes Speed Challenge

Fourishes is having a "speed challenge" to celabrate their new releases this month...you (me) have until noon to post a card using their sketch (see below)...well it definately was a speed challenge for me, as I just saw it this morning (thank goodness I subscribe to their blog posts) at 3am...why am I up so early...couldn't sleep and have to be out the door by 7:30....am helping my granddaughter this morning with costume changes for a dance recital...busy~busy!
I used a set I purchased from Flourishes last year called Easter Lily...I kept my lily a true white.....now if I would of had more time, I think I would of embossed it...might try that later tonight...anywho I added some stickles to the petals to give a bit of shine...I add my stickles with a tiny paint brush so I can get it just where I want it...I put a tiny bit of stickles on my leaves as well...see the little butterfly...well who would think a little thing like that could give you so much trouble??  First I had a set all done and on and just didn't like them, so took them off and cut these two from vellum.....well one flew right off and when I went to pick it up I ran over it with my chair...so punched another one and dropped it afer I had put the glue dot on...and its now stuck to the floor.....arggggg......okay I got that out, I feel better.......at least I made the challenge in time...now have everything crossed that I just might win those new sets.....that would be heaven...it's a random drawing so anyone can win...give it a try , you know you want to!!

Make It Monday Challenge #8~Redo

After yesterdays "disaster" of a card I did a "redo" for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday challenge...this one turned out  so much better, I actually like it....I think the difference was the ink I used ....I stayed away from that darker green ink...so that's it...still working on sewing my give aways...they will get there....eventually!!

Make It Monday #8 ~ Blending Techniques

I saw the Blending Techniques by Betsy Veldman at Papertrey Ink and thought I would give it a try.....I think I need more pratice...lol.....I messed up my techniques not once..but oh yeah...twice...sigh.....but here it is for what it's worth........will do a retry later...it was the green ink that got me....way too much, and the more I tried to fix it, the worse it got....and my card front  is not quite as "long" as it was....as I cut off my first mistake..."nuff" said........however, the ribbon and stamps used are all from Papertrey.....

Papertrey March Blog Hop Challenge

I am early....does the early bird get the worm...I hope so.....as Papertrey Ink is having a blog hop starting at 10 est.....I just have a bizillion things to do today, so did my card early this AM........
The challenge:   use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way ~ I stitched my flower with a tone of purple embroidery floss...I show the outline I used below....kind of a spiral.....

then I stamped over it with Memento Grape Jelly ink using the Bitty Backgrounds Blocks....the gingham stamp...oh how I love this stamp...and thing is I almost didn't purchase the set, thinking "I have background stamps I can use"....oh ~ I am soooooo very glad I did...I love this set and use it all the time...I used it for my backgound on my SU Pretty In Pink cs...made a somewhat patchwork effect by overstamping...did the same on the little button die cut...love how it turned out...I used Button Boutique for my sentiment, Simply Chartreuse Twill Ribbon for the flower stem and leaf......and my darling little dress form die...all from Papertrey......thats it...come back and visit again......

Rosette Tag for Joan's Garden Tag Challenge #9

Here is my tag I made for the challenge at Joan's Garden Tag Challenge #9........making tags is one of my favorite things to do....you should have seen my big giraffe one I made for a baby shower...whoops...getting off track here...lol....I made a card yesterday witha tiny banner, so cut a few more out while I was at it...I used my Big Shot Sizzix to cut out a SU Top Note die for the base, then cut out a 2nd one for the cover.....my little banner is stamped with my SU Tiny Tags set, and then I used a die to cut those teeny tiny butterflies...punched out teeny tiny flowers.....my flower is from the TH Rosette die......I have not been able to cut one yet, that doesn't fall apart...so I saw on another blog where after cutting, they added the TH tisssue tape and then folded it...it did help with it not splitting apart when folding.....those little banners are "picky" to work with...but I love them!  I love the shabby/vintage colors of this tag.......
Also thank you to all who voted for me in last weeks challenge...this is my 2nd post today...so be sure to read my other two....

That Down Home Country Feelin'~Oink~

Here I am again doing more challenges...I "NEED" these to keep me motivated and to get me "thinking"....this card is for the challenge Mojo Monday #182 using the sketch shown below.
I have lots of stamps that have never been inked...some expensive....some not so, like this little barn $1 stamp from M's...this paper just called "country farm" to me.....I stamped "oink" on the little tag.....does "oink" mean "hello" in pig??  Well, to carry it a bit further......I stamped the inside with.....well look above and you will see...kind of fitting don't you think??  The barn was left "distressed"...like my barn here...
I have 3 challenge posts today.....take a peek at the rest......I like to post them each separate...makes it less confusing.
Only six more days until I announce my blog candy.......I have 2 different ones going... paper and prim home decor...better sign up!!  Details on my GIVEAWAY tab above.

Shabby Tea Room Challenge~Party Time

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge blog is having a Party Time challenge for their one year birthday of their blog........so fun to particpate in these challenges.......using their inspiration photo,  made this "darling" card that I have to tell you it is so much better IRL.....I just can't get good pics anymore......new camera time??  Anywho, because I have a sleep problem, I was up at about 2:30...or was it 1:30...not sure with the time change...but it was quiet...no TV....no dog wanting out...cats were all sleeping...very peaceful.....so I jumped on the computer and saw the post for this weeks challenge....got off and started working...I just finished...whew this one took me awhile...well I did the little gift bag 3 times before I was satisfied (there are 2 of them in my waste basket)......the background embossing folder is a Cricut one...love those little cupcakes and perfect with just "one" candle in them.....
.I first made the little banner...it actually pops out more then the pic shows...I cut it, then stamped my polka dots on it...sewed on those tiny little buttons and real glass beads....picky little work.....gathered up some lace for my flower and added some vintage white leaves I was hoarding behind it....and look at that little teapot tag....I LOVE IT.......cut it with the Cricut cartridge "A Child's Play".....sewed the same little glass beads on it as on my banner and stamped it with "Tiny Tags" from SU...I love this set...if you like "tiny", you would, too..
.for my little gift goodie bag, I stamped all over it...gathered another flower, added some pearls to this tag...both these little teapot tags "open"...
 now I have to apologize for making you do word verification.....I have tried not using it, but was slammed with spam, and 2 nasty virus's that caused me to loose everything I had in my document folder and all my photo's.....twice...so I am leaving it on as I was instructed for an extra safety feature...sorry, I hope you understand.....I just cannot have that happen again...my poor old heart can't take it...LOL.......

Shabby Tea Room Challenge #52

I had this card in my head for awhile......so decided to put it in the challenge at The Shabby Tea Room......I used a tiny die called cookie cutter die for the shamrock...I had to cut each one out separate.....I added some crystal effects to each shamrock as well as stamped each one with a small flourish stamp.....the pot of gold was from the same die set and I made my "gold" with some stickles...I have to apologize for the "bad" picture, but it is a dark and gloomy day and after about 15 trys I gave up.........I used my TH distress tool for the edge of the sentiment to give it a "shabby" look....loving that gingham ruffle on the ribbon...thats it for today!!

Joan's Gardens #9 Weekly Challenge

Here is my card I did today (4:30 am actually) for Joan's Gardens weekly challenge.......the challenge was to use orange and blue~Spring theme~a die cut and a circle.  I kept mine rather simple, but love how it turned out.......I colored my flower with my new Copics my hubby got me for Christmas......I am still learning, so be "gentle".....I added some stickles not only to the flower itself, but to the stem and leaves for a tiny bit of "bling"!  In honor of this weeks "gift" for the challenge, I got out my TH Distressing tool..(which was a good thing as in hunting for the tool, I found my scissors sharpener I had been hunting forever!)...I thought about inking the edges, but decided I liked it just as it is with its white~shaggy edges!
Don't forget to check out my giveaway above....not many people have entered.....maybe because I am being sneaky and not showing the pictures yet...you will NOT be disappointed!!

~~~Going Green~~~
Fooled ya...bet you thought you were going to see a St Patty's Day project...didn't you??  Nope, not yet.....I made this tag for the Tag Challenge at Joan's Gardens.......it was any kind of tag you wanted, Joan made a tag from "trash" as she calls it...its a beauty......all the tags are voted on, the one with the most votes wins a badge for your blog......but that's a hard call, as I have "never met a tag" I didn't like yet!
I made this tag for a friend that will be moving away soon...so sad...sigh.....the base is a HEAVY coffee stain and yep, even baked in the oven....wish you could smell it, it  smells heavenly!!   I have a mini "coffee" album planned and have been saving bits and pieces of things to use, so that is why I have the Folgers Coffee piece...isn't it neat...recycle......and the Coffee tastes better with a friend......well that is stamped on a paint sample card I brought home to see if it matched the stain glass sunflowers on my front door...recycle......see the ribbon......my sister sprayed some old vintage seam binding this wonderful coffee color...it came on a gift this year from her for Christmas...recycle.......the satin ribbon tied with it.....also vintage...also recycled......the stamps I used for the cup and the sentiment are from Flourishes...now go make a tag...you know you want to!!
~Spring Blossoms ~Joan's Gardens Challenge
Good Sunday morning!!!  We had rain yesterday that turned to snow...ugh...but the sun is shining bright today...so there is hope!!  I made "another" card for the Just Rite challenge at Joans Gardens blog...just couldn't help myself....lol.....the stamp I used from Just Rite is my very first one I owned.....in fact it is one of their very first ones I believe.....it is from the DIY Monogram Stamper Kit called Curlz Font "Fun Borders"...I just used the outer ring and stamped first SU  Certainly Celery and then Elegant Eggplant...you might have to click on the picture to get a better view.....the flower is simply made from my SU XL 5 Petal flower punch!!  I cut my leaves by hand, and ran my bone folder down each one to give it a bit of dimension.....I have signed up to go to Joans Gardens workshop this month...the mini one.....can hardly believe I live close enough to get to go...I feel so lucky!!
Shabby Tea Room Challenge
I have to say I LOVE how this card turned out...wish you could see it IRL...as the 3d details are beau-ti-ful!!  I made this card for the challenge at the Shabby Tea Room~the challenge this week was Classic Elegance using black~white and red!  This card took quite a bit of time as it was quite "picky" with all the little flowers and such!  The basket stamp is one I "adore"...it is a Longaberger basket stamp...I had thought at one time collecting these....bought this one, and then next thing you know, they were selling on Ebay for more then my little budget could pay....but I am happy to own at least one...its a neat stamp...you stamp it, cut it out and put it together and it makes a 3d little basket.....I think you will be seeing more of these later with some Spring flowers.....I added the little charm that says "FAITH"......the inside of the card reads
ASK and it will be given to you
SEEK and you will find
KNOCK and the door will be opened to you.
I love that!!!  Here is a close up of the flower basket!
