SUMMERTIME

Okay, I should be doing a million things to get ready to leave....
but here I am doing a challenge....
I could not resist, as when I saw the challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs was
"Hot Time In The Summer"
the first thing that came to mind was my newest Cheery Lynn Die
"Polynesian Sails"

I decided to "think outside of the box" so to speak....
I cut out the larger, intricate die on white cardstock and sponged
VersaMagic Aegean Blue, Sea Breeze chalk inks and Memento Dandelion on it....
I cut the little doily from red CS, folded it in half, added a punched banner for the sail...
the stamped sentiment is a Unity stamp...
the background was embossed with a bubble folder....
I think it turned out kind of "sweet"!

well, that is really it for me this week...I need to get packed!!

Big Flower

Well, heck, I should be packing and here I am creating!!
This is my last post for the week, as I am spending a vacation with family...

This is my card I came up with for the Classy Cards N Such challenge... use a die cut...
When I purchased my very first Cheery Lynn die it was the French Pastry Doily...
I loved it so much I sat and cut out about a dozen doilies in various colors/patterns
(it can be purchased at Classy Cards N Such)....
I used a Sizzix scallop bigz die to cut the YoYo  yellow SU cardstock...
I cut it so it can open up, then adhered it to a flower base I had left over from
a Cricut flower banner project....
the center of the flower is a flower I made with mini cupcake liners....
I punched the butterfly with a MS punch.....
thats it for me...have nice week everybuddy!

Winner at Classy Cards and Such

Just wanted to give a "shout out" for a new (to me) challenge blog I came across...
it's called Classy Cards N Such
I was chosen as the winner last week (you can click on the link to see on my right sidebar)
I was thrilled, as there were several beautiful entries....
go there ~ read the rules ~ give it a try!!

and a big Thank You to Classy Cards for picking me!!

Cup of Tea

It's a beautiful day today, great temp, not much humidity...perfect!
I have a card to share with you I did for a challenge at Joan's Gardens....
I won her challenge last week and was a "happy camper"...lol..
this week the challenge is to make a birthday card....
use black, pink, a bit of green....
use leaves....
and a designer paper as your background....
I used this gorgeous paper I purchased at Joans earlier this year, but can't remember
which pad it came off of (my sister and I sometimes split the 6 x 6 pads)....
the stamp was also purchased from Joan for a mere $1.99 and is from Prima Marketing....
the ink is SU Rose Red, the sentiment stamp is a Hero Arts....
the little leaves were cut with a Sizzix tiny leaf die...
and the Rose is one I made...it has a tiny bit of glitter on it....
the banner die is a Spellbinders.....

I will probably be away from my computer the next week,
I am spending time with family for a vacation at the lake...
so see ya August 6th (unless I have time for another post before tomorrow :>)

Lime~Aqua~Navy

This week at CAS-ual Fridays the clean and simple challenge is lime~aqua~navy....

I choose stamps from past Unity Stamp Kits of the month for the pockets and butterflies.....
I stamped the pocket on SU Night of Navy CS with Versamark....
I used a SU Emboss powder "Glassy Glaze Enamel"...
this is the neatest stuff....it melts clear, making it the same color as your paper....
The gingham stamp is a huge background stamp..
the inks are VersaMagic chalk inks Key Lime & Sea Breeze....
I had intended to put a small ribbon "tab" coming out of the right side of the pocket
but forgot and already had adhered it down with Scor-tape......
that's it for me today...have a nice weekend!!

Let's Celebrate Challenge

It's been so hot~dry~humid, I decided I needed to celebrate....
I love fall, it's my favorite season of the year....
I know it's still a few months down the road....
but it makes me happy knowing it's coming....
So, I am making this wreath card for the Cheery Lynn Design Challenge
I cut all those gorgeous leaves with one little die by Cheery Lynn
called Flower Stacker #1 Leaf
the die can be purchased at Joan's Gardens HERE
I used SU Very Vanilla CS for my base...
the base was cut with a Sizzix  Scalloped circle die...
the sentiment is a $1 stamp from Mike's which reads
"Life is a great bundle of little things"
now isn't that so true...
Each leaf has a little gem in the center to set if off....
so that's it...I have to say I LOVE it!!
and just wanted to mention, it is a little brighter in real life!!

Country Pinwheel Quilt Card

While cleaning out my "creative" room....
I came across a BH&G quilt magazine that has over 100 ideas  for quilt blocks....
I put it in the "to go" pile....
then decided it would be a wonderful reference for "quilt cards"....
When I saw that this week CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to use a black card base....
I decided to "make a quilt"....
I choose the "Country Pinwheel"....
it was a lot of paper piecing, but fun (except trying to keep it straight)....
the quilt cards are another great way to use scraps....

I made the second card I am showing first..(have I confused you...lol)
but wasn't in love with it, hence the quilt card...
I used some Zing embossing powder, as I have tons of it

and seem to forget to use it!!
