Call Me Rita

You ever have the best laid plans and then they all fall through the cracks?
Well, that is sort a ~ kind a what happened to me!

Last week while I was on 'Darnells' blog I saw it was
International Womens Day
and that also she had some cute and funny cards for the occasion.
So I got all hepped up to make a few of my own.
And that I did....
however, I did make 3 cards for IWD,
but never had the chance to post them....
I hate it when that happens!

So, I decided to post one of them today
(you will see the others 'debut' at later times.

I used a very old, but fun stamp my daughter bought me years ago.
It is an American Art Stamp by Emerson Quinn.

I stamped it, then used my Copics for coloring.
I know you probably can't tell,
but her glasses are rimmed in purple glitter.
I dug in my scrap bags for the papers.
I kind of loved them as they look a bit like her tropical drink
she is 'sipping'!!

A bit of twine and a pretty brad were added.
Just a fun card to send to a friend!

I will be entering this in the following challenges:

Thinking of You

This is my post on the
Dies R Us blog today.

Hi there!

Today I had fun using all scraps from my scrap bags
and a couple of fun dies from the Dies R Us store!

I cut three 4 1/4" square white card bases and added a
pretty and very detailed butterfly to each using
and a few colorful scrap designer papers and card stocks.
Now this die is called small, but it is pretty good sized,
as you can see.

Also a little hint to cut such intricate and detailed dies,
is to use a piece of wax paper in-between the die and papers.
I also always use a shim with mine, but that totally depends
on 'your' machine.

I added a sentiment to Cheery Lynn Designs Horizons Fishtail Banners

These were pretty easy to put together
and I just love all the detail in the butterflies!

Stop by here Monday-Friday for more great inspiration from the Design Team.

Easter Egg

Where does the time go?
Easter is just around the corner
and Double D Challenges is celebrating it!

Team Darlene is hosting this time
and the theme is Easter using the tile board below.

There was lots to choose from on this board and I went with
the "Easter Egg'.

I cut the egg on my Cricut Explore using a cut file from
I didn't make my card a shaker , but just used the intricate overlay...
so PRETTY!!!

I used an embossing folder underneath the overlay,
popped the flower overlay up over the top of it.
I used my Cuttlebug to emboss, and can you believe I broke my 'C' plate...a stupid thing on my part!

I added a bit of Pan Pastels on the flowers
(I know hard to see in the pictures)
and added a pearl center to each flower
along with a pretty bow topped with flowers from the same cut file.

I am amazed how that Explore can cut just about anything...
it is way smarter then me!!

Now, pop on over to the Double D Challenge site
and see all the pretty variety of creations the DT has....
WOW...beautiful projects to inspire you...
and there is a super neat prize to be won...I want it myself!!

Happy Birthday Flowers

Time for a new challenge at

This time around the theme is
'Handmade Flowers'
so it should fun to see all the pretty entries.

For my card I started with a 'pocket' made from a piece
of scrap paper.
I have been cleaning out and organizing my 12 x 12 papers
and pulled out a few already cut pieces
and this was one of them.

Soooo, actually my entire card was built around this piece of scrap!
I cut it using
Memory Box Open Studio Stitched Square Layers
and then folding the top back a bit for the pocket.

I filled the pocket with a corner die first,
then leaves and flowers all made using the following dies
I added a bit of glitter to the flowers for some girlie sparkle!

A few little MS flower embellishments were added
and a stamped sentiment using a round punch.....pretty easy peasy!!

Pop on over to the challenge blog and take a peek
at what the rest of the DT has come up with...so PRETTY!!

Birds of A Feather

Have you missed me...LOL??
I have been gone since Thursday,
but before I left I finished this card 'just for fun'
for the challenge at City Crafters which is
I am Working on My PHD....
meaning 'Project Half Done'!

This card had been sitting in a bag of 'scrap' for about 2 years!
I decided to pull it out and see if I could do anything with it.
I had already stamped the birds with black embossing powder on vellum
and used my Copics to color on the backside of the vellum.
had added the stitching and burlap pieces
and there it sat...yep for at least 2 years..lol!

To finish I added twine, button, sequins and a sentiment.
not sure if it improved it much, but thought what the heck
it serves the purpose for the challenge.

This card will probably go to my aunt that is in a nursing home
as she has a huge fondness for birds!

I'll be back tomorrow with my card for the new Dies R Us challenge....stop back by!

Honey Bees Shaker

It is starting to look like Spring on my blog and it makes me happy!!
So happy that I have a pretty and fun Spring shaker card to share with you!

This month Sparkle N Sprinkle has a FABULOUS stamp reveal
and one of the stamp sets is 'Honey Bees'!

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
and colored it in with various Copic Sketch markers.
I fussy cut the entire image out, then added
(oh boy is this glitter gorgeous, I think it has become my favorite black glitter..ever!!)
to the center of the flowers.

For the card base I used a black card stock
and then a Sizzix honeycomb embossing folder.
A circle was die cut from the center of that with
clear card stock behind and a snippet of dotted scrap paper.
A colorful mix of sequins was added for the 'shaker'.

I stamped bumble bees from the same stamp set with Versamark,
not only on white card stock, but vellum as well with Coffee Embossing Powder.
I fussy cut the card stock bees, cutting their wings off,
then colored them in with Copics,

I fussy cut the vellum bees as well, this time just cutting out the wings and
main body pieces, then I placed this piece under the first,
giving the bee wings a 'translucent' appearance.

To finish, I simply adhered a leaf die cut behind the hive with
Tear-ific 1/4" tape, popped the bees up and added a
black and white twine bow!

I hope you love my shaker card as much as I do..
it was so much fun to make!!

Be Happy

Time for a new challenge at Fussy and Fancy!
Our lovely hostess is Annie and she has chosen the theme
'Things With Wings'.

Our sponsor is Sweet Lilac Flowers.

Now a lot of things come to mind for that theme,
but I chose a pretty and delicate bird die I had purchased
and had on my 'want list' forever it seems.

While getting together with a group of friends,
one of them had this die and let us each cut one from white card stock.
It was so pretty I just had to have it,
so when I won that gift certificate over at the Cottage Cutz blog
and they had the half off sale and all, I was able to get my hands on it!

I used a 'real' paper doily I have had in my stash for ever it seems,
added a few flowers I layered together, it seems so good to use some of
these things up.

I also added a few gold sequins and a little resin heart.

No head on over to the Fussy and Fancy blog
and see the other beautiful 'things with wings' creations,
the Design Team has created.....join in the challenge with us!
