CAS

Today a new challenge is up and running at
and our lovely hostess is Nancy!
She has chosen the theme CAS (clean and simple).

CAS usually means not many layers,
few if any embellishments
and lots of white space.
I kind of failed on a couple of them...
but I do have lots of white space!

My intentions for this card came to me
in the middle of the night.
I wanted to stamp my image on my card front,
make a mask,
then stencil my heart using an oxide over that.

Well part of it came true,
but dumb me used a left over negative heart
for my stencil which was fine,
but I didn't pay attention to the fact
that the right side of my stencil had a very narrow edge and I 'went outside the lines' you might say'.
I hated the thought of having to start over,
so I die cut it out instead,
plus I was thinking my Copics would of bled through my card front anyhow,
so all is well, right?

Oh heck NO,
because as I colored,
my teal Copic is VERY wet and bled
outside the lines on the very last place I was coloring,
so I grabbed my blender pen
to see if I could take some of it offwith that,
EXCEPT I grabbed a C00 Cool Gray pen by mistake
(they look the same..lol) adding more drama to the mess...
now what to do??
I grabbed a tiny little flower and glued it over
most of the mess....geez!!

I think it kind of works
and it is only ONE TINY embellishment..
so that is about as CAS as I get with this card lol!

The cute little stamp is from Santoro,
called The Pretend Friend,
it is #3 in the series, there are 40 of them I think,
I own five so far.
I bought them online at Joanns.com when they have their 40% off stamps
which makes each little stamp a mere $1.49.
I know they don't appeal to everyone,
but they make ME happy!!

So that's MY story and I am sticking to it!!
(sorry for such a long post)

Rock On

My post  on the Tutti Designs blog today.

Hi, Diane here today
with a couple of cards just perfect for that
musical person or teenager in your life!!

Both of these cards were made using the
Tutti Designs Drum Set die.

The first card was created by embossing a star background.
then using the Nesting Stitched Star for the drums to 'rest on'.
The drums were die cut with a royal blue metallic
and the sentiment is computer generated and die cut with
Nesting Stitched Ovals.

The next card I used a brick background stamp and a frame for the
computer generated sentiment.
Of course as you can see the Drum Set was cut from a bright lime green glitter paper.

Pretty Blooms

This is my post on the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog today!

Hello, Diane with you today with a 'Z' card and featuring the
newly released stamp set 'Pretty Blooms'.

Products used in the making of this card:
Embossing Powder:  Key Lime EP219
Tonic:  Balustrade In Bloom Die Set 1488E
Misc:  Designer Papers, Sequins

This 'Z' card is very simple to make.
Cut a piece of card stock 4 1/4 x 11
with the 11" piece across the top of your score board,
score at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2"

For the second part of the 'Z'
cut a piece of card stock 3 1/2 x 8 1/2"
score at 2 1/8 x 4 1/4'
(I have the picture reversed, just flip it around)

The next picture shows how you will 'attach' one to the other.
However before doing this,
you will want to decorate with your designer paper first.
Once done,adhere with  Tear-ific Tape 1/4",
being careful to put tape on just part of the front left
so it can fold, you can see where it will fold from left to right.

Using a Tonic beautiful die set 'Balustrade In Bloom',
I die cut it in white card stock.
I stamped the image with Versamark embossing ink,
then embossed with Key Lime embossing powder.
I did this twice, then colored with Copics and fussy cut one complete set out,
and fussy cut just the flowers and leaves from the second set.
I added the image to the die cut, then 'popped' the second set
of flowers on top, giving a bit of a '3D' look.
This was then attached to the front panel of the Z.

I ran two strips of 1/4" Tear-ific tape down each front  panel,
and two 1/4"  Tear-ific Tape strips down each inside (back) panel,
then added Creamsicle glitter and Margarita glitter to each strip.
Using a Sakura Glue Pen on the flower  petals,
Creamsicle glitter was added as well.

Here is  a complete picture of the card opened to full Z.

Using the same Tonic Balustrade In Bloom die set,
I cut two pieces for the sentiment inside (sentiment is part of the Pretty Blooms set).
The fussy cut leaves were tucked under that.

I finished the card with a few well placed sequins.

Smile

Yesterday I really didn't feel like creating much
and should of been doing housework,
but didn't feel like that either,
so I looked at a few challenges to see if one would grab my attention.

I saw at Addicted to CAS the challenge was CAT.

If you know me, you know I am an animal lover
and I seem to have lots of cat stamps.

I made this fun card with a stamp I purchased years ago
after seeing it in a card magazine,
It is from Viva Las Vegas stamps.
It just makes me 'smile'
How would you like to find this 'meatball' in your spaghetti?

I just did a very tiny bit of coloring, keeping it simple!
I hope this makes you "SMILE" today!!

Hello

I am guest designing at the Crop Stop blog again this week.
This is my card I made.

Today I have a pretty quilt card to share using a quilt die

I cut the die three times,
twice using  designer paper from Authenique and then once from a
plain red card stock.

I backed the red piece, which is the quilt outline (binding)
with a piece of trimmed to fit (4")
The I just simply pieced the die cut pieces in where I wanted them.
(I can save all the extras for future 'quilts.)

The entire die cut was then adhered to a white card stock
and then a pink card stock base.

I die cut a Memory Box 'Hello'
and added 3 little Red Candi Dots

Hearts Twofer Challenge

It's been a rough week here with things going on
and I needed something to take my mind off it all
and had been wanting to get some cards done for the Twofer Challenge.

The challenge this time is "Hearts".
I used a die for my cards.....a really, really OLD die...
remember the 'cookie cutter' dies from QuicKutz?

I used a nesting heart, but I used the 'negative' of the heart.
I made both a masculine card and a feminine card.

The first card I added a designer paper 'scene' behind the heart negative.

I added a die cut deer, few sequins and sentiment...simple!

For the feminine card scraps of papers
(or snippets like Di at the Playhouse calls them)
and adhered them to a card stock base,
then turned it slightly and had a nice background for my negative heart.

I added a few leaf die cuts, flowers and a sentiment.

This challenge with the hearts in 2 different ways threw me a bit,
but I like the outcome!

Fun News

Hey all my 'bloggie' friends....
I have a bit of fun news to share.
I am the new blog coordinator for a relative new die company

There is a wonderful team of ladies doing the designing for us and you can

They have done an amazing job of using the dies for inspiration.

While getting the blog up and running and the team in place,
I made a few cards myself.

Woodland Creatures Challenge

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for a new
challenge theme at Double D.
The challenge is being hosted by Team Darlene
but I wanted to join in, too!
The theme is 'Woodland Creatures'
Now how fun is that and how fun is this inspiration board!!

I decided to go a little 'outside' the box with this challenge
and make a shaped card.
I have made this little 'Hey Foxy' card before
using The Cutting Cafe Hey Foxy cut file on my Cricut.

I had a lot of fun making this card and I also had a bit of
'unwanted' help from Mack.
I had all my pieces cut and ready to assemble right after I had my lunch.
but was getting ready to attach the feet and I only had one foot.
What the heck?  I then heard 'chomp~chomp~chomp,
and yep, you guessed it, Mack was eating the poor little fox foot!

So, back to the Cricut to cut another foot.....
all in all, after all the drama
I think he turned out pretty darn cute!!

Make sure and pop on over to the Double D challenge blog and
see all the fun woodland creatures...join in with us too,
as we always have really cool prizes!!

Flower Love

This is my post on the Tutti Designs blog today.

Hi, Diane with you today.
I have three cards all made with the same fun die
from Tutti Designs Flower Love.
I figured since February is the month of 'LOVE',
that this would be a good time to show these cards.
I think these flower dies are so much fun
and can make a quick, yet pretty card when needed in a hurry!

First up is this card with a swirly heart background.
I also used the Nesting Scalloped Oval die cut from vellum.
The Flower Love die was cut on white card stock, then colored with Copics.
I have a little confession to make on this card though.
Shhh don't tell, but there are 7 of these flower dies, all different.
I made 3 of each die design, and on the 3rd card of each, I turned
the die on it's side for a very different look,
however in the taking of my pictures, I left it 'upright'
so just picture this card on it's side, lol!

The second card uses a bit of background paper and a scrap of green,
add a bow and you have a pretty card!

The third card uses  a Nesting Stitched Heart die
Once again the Flower Love die was cut from white and colored with Copics.

Hey Chickie

Time for a fun project for
All the designers were given the cutest digital file to work with
'Animal Friends' printable set
This cute set has several images to choose from.
I chose the cute little 'chickie'.
I think this would make a cute card to send to a 'bestie'!

I colored both image with Copics and for fun added a bit of glitter to both.
Sparkle N Sprinkle Daisy glitter to the chest area and Creamsicle to the feet.
To apply glitter in small areas I use my very favorite
I use this so often and love it s much I am on my third one
and have a 4th ready to open when needed!
I also used a Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in each eye.

I made the sentiment/chick image into a balloon for the larger chick to hold.
The papers I used (are you ready?) are from Making Memories 2008...
yikes they are 10 years old!

Want to see some more super cute and adorable animal friends?
Then tomorrow on The Cutting Cafe BLOG,
all the designers have their creations all in one post!
Just by leaving a comment there, you could win 3 cut files of your choice.
