CAS

Today a new challenge is up and running at
and our lovely hostess is Nancy!
She has chosen the theme CAS (clean and simple).

CAS usually means not many layers,
few if any embellishments
and lots of white space.
I kind of failed on a couple of them...
but I do have lots of white space!

My intentions for this card came to me
in the middle of the night.
I wanted to stamp my image on my card front,
make a mask,
then stencil my heart using an oxide over that.

Well part of it came true,
but dumb me used a left over negative heart
for my stencil which was fine,
but I didn't pay attention to the fact
that the right side of my stencil had a very narrow edge and I 'went outside the lines' you might say'.
I hated the thought of having to start over,
so I die cut it out instead,
plus I was thinking my Copics would of bled through my card front anyhow,
so all is well, right?

Oh heck NO,
because as I colored,
my teal Copic is VERY wet and bled
outside the lines on the very last place I was coloring,
so I grabbed my blender pen
to see if I could take some of it offwith that,
EXCEPT I grabbed a C00 Cool Gray pen by mistake
(they look the same..lol) adding more drama to the mess...
now what to do??
I grabbed a tiny little flower and glued it over
most of the mess....geez!!

I think it kind of works
and it is only ONE TINY embellishment..
so that is about as CAS as I get with this card lol!

The cute little stamp is from Santoro,
called The Pretend Friend,
it is #3 in the series, there are 40 of them I think,
I own five so far.
I bought them online at Joanns.com when they have their 40% off stamps
which makes each little stamp a mere $1.49.
I know they don't appeal to everyone,
but they make ME happy!!

So that's MY story and I am sticking to it!!
(sorry for such a long post)

Head on over to

Oh you were having a day. to tell you the truth. I thought you were doing some shading around the heart. The flower totally works. Great little stamp and card.

Awe what a cute card, it just makes me happy. And I love how you have used the heart as a background. It surly does add to the charm of the whole thing!

This is so cute and I like how you rescued it with the flower too. I am always messing up so don't feel bad. It is part of the process I guess. I think that is what often makes them unique and special!

Well, first of all, I loved reading your story. I could feel every bit of your frustrating stamping adventure, and we all have those days. Every save made it a little better, I think. Isn't that so often the case? BTW, I've done that with the C00 marker before, too. I even have a spare blender pen that I accidentally refilled with C00. Your card is perfectly CAS and perfectly cute! It appears that you've done some nice shading around the image, so that save worked out just fine, and you made her dress more adorable with the flower. The stamp is darling. You can't beat that price! I love seeing whatever stamps you have in your collection. Fun! One last note -- CAS is not always so simple, is it? Sheesh!

Oh, how funny! Welcome to my life of trying to do CAS cards! One of the crafters that taught me how to make cards said, "there's no mistakes in cardmaking. Only opportunities to embellish!" So true! I love that this card came to you at night. How many times has that happened to me! Anyhoo, your card is adorable and perfectly CAS in my eyes! Love it, Sis!

This is adorable and you did a wonderful job, Diane! You handle that "mistake" beautifully. As Debbie said there are no mistakes in card making just opportunities to embellish. And, you kept that embellishment to a minimum.
