Our Hearts Are Broken

Today is a different and difficult post for me.

Yesterday we lost our beautiful and so very loved
Goldendoodle Nellie
to lymphoma.
It was a fast moving cancer that took her two weeks after she
was diagnosed.

She loved playing in the snow.

This is one of the last pictures I took of her on 1-24-16
How I miss that beautiful face!!!!!

I have spent the last two weeks up with her most nights, all night
to keep track of her and help her up when she needed to go out
and to get her to her food dish and for water.
I cannot even imagine a life without her as she has been at my side
nonstop for the last 10 years.

She was the most gentle, loving, smart, silly, ever faithful friend
you could ever ask for in a dog.

There was never a time when I didn't come home and
she was waiting for me with her tail wagging, until today!

I hope you will all forgive me for awhile if I don't visit and comment
on your blogs for a bit...
I don't even know what to do right now as I just feel empty.

Oh Diane ... What can I say? I know your pain so well and my heart goes out to you at this terrible time. Only those who have owned a dog and known the immense love and loyalty they give can understand how you feel ...
Just know that I am here for you... thinking of you and sending warm hugs your way. Take some time sweetie....

I am so, so sorry to read about the loss of your dog Diane. Nothing that I say can ease the terrible pain of losing a friend of so many years, but know I am thinking of you. Warm hugs.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. Losing a loving pet is very difficult and this breed in particular, I'm very biased, well, they are everything you described and more. Nellie was a true beauty and a credit to the breed. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care and solace in the thought you enjoyed so many wonderful moments with her. Loving a pet in this way enriches our lives so much more than mere words can say.

I'm so sorry for you & Greg's loss. Nellie will be missed by anyone and everyone who was ever around her. She had a beautiful, loving personality that even a non-pet owner like myself enjoyed and could fall in love with. RIP Nellie...

Diane, I know how incredibly painful this is for you and, yes, you feel lost. The hurt is just too big. You took such good care to ease her way at the end. Please know she is okay and not hurting like you are. I don't know what I'll do when that time comes at my house. My heart breaks for you.

Diane, so very sorry for your loss. Any true animal lover knows that they really do become like one of your children, and the loss is hard. I have a cockapoo, he looks like a smaller version of Nellie. He is everything you described, he's the smartest, most devoted dog I've ever had, it's has to be the Poodle part of them. I've always had animals my entire life so I've been through many losses and know it takes time to heal. You'll know when the time is right, never to replace but to add new joy, they always make a house a home. Sending hugs your way.

Diane, I am so sorry to hear about Nellie. Our fur babies are our best friends, as well as our family. My heart goes out to you as I know all too well that empty feeling. She may be gone, but she will always be in your heart. Sending you big hugs, my friend.

It is so hard to lose a friend that is always with you. She left many paw prints on your heart. They are always happy memories that will hurt right now but later they will be so dear. We are all thinking about you.

Oh, Diane, I am so, so, sorry for your loss, my friend. Nellie was so lucky to have you. I know the pain you are going through and it's excruciating. I didn't get out of bed for three days after I had to put my baby to sleep...a poodle. I was blessed with 15 years with him, but he also developed cancer and he was in so much pain. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. It will take time, but you will be able to look back and remember the joy she brought to your life without the pain of loss. Great big hugs my dear friend.

I know your pain Diane. Losing a beloved pet is so hard to bare and though it will take a long time, your tears will eventually lesson and you will be able to remember her and smile.
Sending you big hugs.

Oh Diane my heart breaks for you! She was very blessed to be part of such a loving home for 10 years! And sadly it will be a hard journey since she was such an amazing part of your life, it is never easy to lose something you love.

This coming Friday marks the anniversary of the day I lost both of my children. It never ever gets easier. Hopefully in time you will be able to look back and smile or laugh about the silly things Nellie did. I try to look at it this way. Even though as hard as it is or as painful as it is to lose Nellie think of how blessed you were to have her in your life at all. Losing my children words can't even describe. However I would do it all over again because even having them the short time I did was such an amazing gift I will treasure always!

My little Annie LOVED, LOVED dogs. Rest assured she was at the Pearly Gates waiting for Nellie with open arms. Sending you a big, big, big HUG and lots of love!!
Your DT Sistah and crafty friend,
Lisa

Our pets are our best friends and confidantes. Losing one is like losing family. It will take time to get to the point where your memories are of the good times and not of the last few days of your Nellie's life. Sweet girl, she knew plenty of love from you.

I am so sorry Diane. I feel your loss, I got tears in my eyes when reading your post. She looked so lovely. I have two doggies too but 5 years ago I lost my sweet girl Amber she was a mini dachshund the long hair kind and she was 14 years my shadow we had to lie down in spoon together for 10 minutes or we couldn't fall asleep. She was my everything and although I bought another one of the same breed but this time a boy called Billy and different colour I still miss my sweet Amber. Of all the dogs I have had she was the sweetest she really was my little girl. She also always knew how and when to comfort me when I needed it. So I can feel your pain Diane and I wish I could say it will dissapear but it didn't for me. Although Billy does soften the pain. I wish a lot of strength and sherish the memories. Greetings from Veerle

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Pets become members of the family and give so readily without asking anything in return. It is so very nice to have had her so long and have all the great memories---she will never be forgotten as she has left paw prints on your heart. Hugs, DonnaJeanne
