SUMMERTIME

Okay, I should be doing a million things to get ready to leave....
but here I am doing a challenge....
I could not resist, as when I saw the challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs was
"Hot Time In The Summer"
the first thing that came to mind was my newest Cheery Lynn Die
"Polynesian Sails"

I decided to "think outside of the box" so to speak....
I cut out the larger, intricate die on white cardstock and sponged
VersaMagic Aegean Blue, Sea Breeze chalk inks and Memento Dandelion on it....
I cut the little doily from red CS, folded it in half, added a punched banner for the sail...
the stamped sentiment is a Unity stamp...
the background was embossed with a bubble folder....
I think it turned out kind of "sweet"!

well, that is really it for me this week...I need to get packed!!

Big Flower

Well, heck, I should be packing and here I am creating!!
This is my last post for the week, as I am spending a vacation with family...

This is my card I came up with for the Classy Cards N Such challenge... use a die cut...
When I purchased my very first Cheery Lynn die it was the French Pastry Doily...
I loved it so much I sat and cut out about a dozen doilies in various colors/patterns
(it can be purchased at Classy Cards N Such)....
I used a Sizzix scallop bigz die to cut the YoYo  yellow SU cardstock...
I cut it so it can open up, then adhered it to a flower base I had left over from
a Cricut flower banner project....
the center of the flower is a flower I made with mini cupcake liners....
I punched the butterfly with a MS punch.....
thats it for me...have nice week everybuddy!

Winner at Classy Cards and Such

Just wanted to give a "shout out" for a new (to me) challenge blog I came across...
it's called Classy Cards N Such
I was chosen as the winner last week (you can click on the link to see on my right sidebar)
I was thrilled, as there were several beautiful entries....
go there ~ read the rules ~ give it a try!!

and a big Thank You to Classy Cards for picking me!!

Cup of Tea

It's a beautiful day today, great temp, not much humidity...perfect!
I have a card to share with you I did for a challenge at Joan's Gardens....
I won her challenge last week and was a "happy camper"...lol..
this week the challenge is to make a birthday card....
use black, pink, a bit of green....
use leaves....
and a designer paper as your background....
I used this gorgeous paper I purchased at Joans earlier this year, but can't remember
which pad it came off of (my sister and I sometimes split the 6 x 6 pads)....
the stamp was also purchased from Joan for a mere $1.99 and is from Prima Marketing....
the ink is SU Rose Red, the sentiment stamp is a Hero Arts....
the little leaves were cut with a Sizzix tiny leaf die...
and the Rose is one I made...it has a tiny bit of glitter on it....
the banner die is a Spellbinders.....

I will probably be away from my computer the next week,
I am spending time with family for a vacation at the lake...
so see ya August 6th (unless I have time for another post before tomorrow :>)

Lime~Aqua~Navy

This week at CAS-ual Fridays the clean and simple challenge is lime~aqua~navy....

I choose stamps from past Unity Stamp Kits of the month for the pockets and butterflies.....
I stamped the pocket on SU Night of Navy CS with Versamark....
I used a SU Emboss powder "Glassy Glaze Enamel"...
this is the neatest stuff....it melts clear, making it the same color as your paper....
The gingham stamp is a huge background stamp..
the inks are VersaMagic chalk inks Key Lime & Sea Breeze....
I had intended to put a small ribbon "tab" coming out of the right side of the pocket
but forgot and already had adhered it down with Scor-tape......
that's it for me today...have a nice weekend!!

Let's Celebrate Challenge

It's been so hot~dry~humid, I decided I needed to celebrate....
I love fall, it's my favorite season of the year....
I know it's still a few months down the road....
but it makes me happy knowing it's coming....
So, I am making this wreath card for the Cheery Lynn Design Challenge
I cut all those gorgeous leaves with one little die by Cheery Lynn
called Flower Stacker #1 Leaf
the die can be purchased at Joan's Gardens HERE
I used SU Very Vanilla CS for my base...
the base was cut with a Sizzix  Scalloped circle die...
the sentiment is a $1 stamp from Mike's which reads
"Life is a great bundle of little things"
now isn't that so true...
Each leaf has a little gem in the center to set if off....
so that's it...I have to say I LOVE it!!
and just wanted to mention, it is a little brighter in real life!!

Country Pinwheel Quilt Card

While cleaning out my "creative" room....
I came across a BH&G quilt magazine that has over 100 ideas  for quilt blocks....
I put it in the "to go" pile....
then decided it would be a wonderful reference for "quilt cards"....
When I saw that this week CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to use a black card base....
I decided to "make a quilt"....
I choose the "Country Pinwheel"....
it was a lot of paper piecing, but fun (except trying to keep it straight)....
the quilt cards are another great way to use scraps....

I made the second card I am showing first..(have I confused you...lol)
but wasn't in love with it, hence the quilt card...
I used some Zing embossing powder, as I have tons of it

and seem to forget to use it!!

Seeds of Summer ~ Tag, You're It

This week JustRite is having a challenge "Tag, You're It"
I LOVE making tags.....
the requirement is to use JustRite Stamps...
I choose two different of my newer, recently purchased stamps to use.....
Seeds of Summer and Ticking Stripe Background Stamp...
I love the Seeds of Summer as I am a gardener and it has 27 different stamps to choose from...
the Ticking Stripe was a "must have" for me....
as I have sewn for years, and used "ticking" in many projects!!

I colored my Petunias with Copics..such a soft, pretty color....
I added a sterling silver butterfly charm to my sheer ribbons at the top...
the butterflies are layered and very "3D".....

I love how it turned out...and just might have to make another tag!!

FussyCut Edge Butterflies

Have I ever mentioned I am "addicted" to Pinterest??
I am sure I have....
I have "pinned" hundreds of cards for inspiration....
one of my boards is butterflies.....
I saw this card on a blog "HERE and thought I would give it a try
I did some "fussy cutting" along the edge....
I think the second picture will show it better....
I need a bit more practice for it....

I am entering this in the challenge at "Joan's Gardens"
to use butterflies, 3 layers, yellow and green and to add a nature element...
My 3 layers are my cardstock, flowers and the embossed cardstock under the butterflies...
My nature element are the flowers......

If you want to see some beautiful projects.....
just click on my Pinterest button on the right side of my blog and it will take you to my boards......

This week at the Less Is More Challenge it's "Sewing".....
I had a big smile when I read that.....
I love to sew on cards......but choose "faux" stitching this time...
The UPS man came on Friday with my small SU order....
In it was a new set that I love called "hoop la la".....
as soon as I saw this cute set, I knew I had to have it...
best $12.95 I ever spent...lol
I have quite a bit of sewing them items I could of used...but will do those later....
I also purchased a new Magenta stamp that I used for the sentiment.....
The images were pen to rubber with my SU markers.....
the colors used were, So Saffron for the hoop....
Real Red & Tempting Turquoise for the stitching....
and Basic Grey and Basic Black for the rest.....

I hope you all have a safe weekend....

If interested, the name is Polynesian Sails Oval...

I used my new Sizzix embossing folder "Loving Thoughts".....
the Cheery Lynn Build A Flower #1 .....

I love how well all the various dies work together......

Simple Layers

It has been a busy HOT summer for me.....
It seems I just have a hard time getting anything entirely finished....know what I mean?
I think I am not alone as I have read on numerous blogs of not posting as much....
trying to spend more time with family....
doing other things....
My Mom always is telling me "I try not to bother you, I know you are busy"....
now that hurts...I hate giving off the impression I am too busy for "family"
so I have spent more time with "her" less on my blog...
she is 85, each day is a treasure I thank God for that I still have her....
I am blessed!!

Today I have a quick and simple card to share....
sometimes we need "quick and simple"..right?
It is for the challenge at Joan's Gardens...
use 4 layers, ivory and green, stamped image and a sentiment...
I used a Spellbinders scalloped circle die for my circles....
an older stamp set (isn't it fun to pull out an old set?)...
from SU called "Natural Beauty"......
and 3 different colors of SU green inks...

Speaking of Joan's Gardens....
I went there on Friday to meet her friend and designer "Selma"....
There were 11 of us, we all brought a dish to pass, and the food was wonderful!
It was so fun to met Selma...she is extremely nice and showed her flower making talent!
She also showed us a wonderful way to store all those dies we all seem to be collecting....
if she posts it on her blog (she is at CHA right now), I will give you the link....
I did it, and it is a system I LOVE!....
also while there, I managed to purchase a bundle of new things...
all of which I will post at various times later!

Well, sorry to rattle on so much...have a nice day!!

"Bold and Beautiful"
I used my Flourish set "Birthday Pennents"......
I made the flower from a Spellbinders die......
a simple card, but effective I think!!

Sentiment Is Center Stage

This week at Flourishes, the Timeless Tuesday challenge....
is to make a card with a sentiment as the focal point of the card....
I had fun with this one and used my newest Sizzix embossing folder  "Birds & Flowers"
the sentiment is a Flourish stamp from the set "from the heart"......
the leaves were cut with a Marianne die..........
all in all a pretty fast and easy card!

Getting Sketchy With Flourishes

Flourishes is having a "sketch" challenge before the new July release.....
You can win the entire release...now how cool is that (and right now we all need "cool"...right?)
I have to admit, I struggle with 2 kinds of challenges...one is sketch and the other is color.....
don't ask me why, I just always draw a blank....

For this one I used bright "green gable" cardstock and a Maya Road scrap I had...
the stamps are Flourishes "Friendly Reminders"
I added the flowers that were left from another project......

a cheerful card if nothing else.....thanks
