Winter Card

This challenge was a struggle for me....
I usually don't start my Christmas cards until November or so....
or like last year....never even got them done...lol...
of course most of that was due to the surgery on my arm and hand....

So...this was the challenge at Joan's Gardens....
to use blue and white....
to use a tree....
to use a snowman...
and to use a corner embellishment....

Can you believe I don't own one snowman stamp??
So I used my tim Holtz embossing folder....
I embossed his hat a second time and cut it out to give a bit of color to him....
I also added a sparkle scarf....
the gorgeous tree is a die from Memorybox called "Winterland Tree"
the corner die is a Cheery Lynn Designs die I choose after winning their challenge....
the little stars were punched with a free little star punch I received from placing
an order "somewhere"....

Now speaking of winning.....a couple of weeks ago I won blog candy....
an entire box full from "Dar's Crafty Creations"....
it was loaded to the hilt...
and came at a good time, when we were having the horrific week here

also I happened to win a bit from the Michigan Lottery on Saturday....shocking!!

Happy Halloween

It's funny but I keep reading on everyoness blogs how we all think
our months keep flying by....
But doesn't it just seem like we just had a short summer??

Seems hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner
and here I am making a Halloween card.....
but it will be here before you know it!!

I made this card for two different challenges....
Cheery Lynn Designs challenge blog to use "Kraft"......and.....

I used Kraft cardstock as my base......
kind of like how it gives it a bit of a vintage feel....
it was embossed with some new Cuttlebug folders called "Midnight Hauntings"
Both the doily and the leaf flourish are Cheery Lynn Design dies....
and were cut with paper from MemoryBox called "Nightfall"

The owl is a MS stamp and I used some Puffy embossing powder on him....
the doily and owl are "popped" up.....

If you haven't bought any of the Cheery Lynn dies yet...I can recommend
the doily one called French Pastry and the Flourish one B117...
I have alot of their dies, but I use these over and over....
I have a new one called "Notre Dame"...it cuts beautifully
and can't wiat to do a project with it!!

Autumn

Can you believe its now "fall" offically??
where does our time go??
I happen to LOVE the fall...
cooler temps~gorgeous colors~crisp clean air~pumpkins

So I chose to do a challenge from CAS-ual Fridays
CFC71 "Autumn"

I got my poor, very neglected SU wheel and QuicKutz out....
I ran the wheel thru some So Safron ink....
cut my Maple leaves with my QuicKutz and stamped them
with Papertrey's Bitty Background "gingham" stamp...
oh how that little gingham stamp makes me "happy"!!

I used some twine and my handy dandy Tim Holtz mini stapler to attach it....
the leaves are attached with foam pop up dots....
then I stamped the word "autumn".....
clean and simple!!

"Home" Tweet "Home"

I finally made myself go into my "mess" of a creative room
and spend some time getting myself back into the "creative" mood....
I have so many new things to share, but just was at a brain freeze
it seems of what to do with it all...lol...

I came across a "new" challenge blog "The Creative Paper Trade".....
wow!.....it has amazing talent.....
I made this card for the "paper nudge" challenge to use "letters"

I used a few of my new things....the stamps are from Prima....
the bird cage is stamped and fussy cut and mounted on pop ups....
the blue gingham background paper I stitched on...it is from Lily Bee Dutch Designs...
the bird die I cut with wool felt...it is an Impression Obsession die....
the alpha is an old SU called "alphabits"...they are also mounted on pop ups...

there you have it...short and sweet...am on my way out the door to see a "princess contest"

Autumn Splendor

Do you get on Pinterest??
It is so addicting and there are so many talented and creative people ....
I saw this frame on Pinterest awhile back and loved the simplicity of it....
I had bought a bunch of old frames several years ago at a yard sale.....
put them in the barn and kind of forgot about them....
I have since fought the bats~mice~and squirrels and went upstairs in the barn to retrieve them!!

I painted the frame with some of the "samples" of paints Lowe's now has
in little jars for $2.94...have you seen them.....
they are perfect for projects like this and will be having the "fall" colors soon....
I bought numerous jars of the Spring colors and a few of the Summer ones....
anyhow, how did I get so sidetracked??
I cut my leaves with a Tim Holtz Alterations leaf die....
glued them on with a hot glue gun....
I actually made 2 of these and gave one to my Mom....
I am entering this in the "Decorate To Celebrate" challenge "Autumn Splendor"

I am into "simple" decorating this year and I like it!!

Halloween Stair Step Card

I had started this card before all the "mess" of the week we had last week....
It isn't at all where I was "going with it".....
but decided to just finish it and get it off my desk....

I had started it for the challenge at Joan's Gardens to make a "stair step" card....
the "Frankie" was sent to me by another blogger.....
it was to be alot more elaborate....
but I just didn't have the heart to finish it...
the panel on the left, I stamped in versamark with an Impression Obsession
background stamp and used Ranger black embossing powder...
the tree, moon and crow, were cut with my Cricut

So I need to get some creativeness back somehow...
I have all kinds of new things to create with...
so hope to get out of my "funk" and create this week.....

I'll be Back Soon ~ Promise!!

It's been a busy and horrific week here at Nellie's Nest....
A friend of my husbands lost 2 of his grandchildren to a car accident....
they were 6 and 9 year old little girls....
their little 4 year old sister is still in critical condition...
we attended their funeral Friday night....
the accident was on Tuesday....
on Wednesday morning a friend of ours lost his twin brother to cancer....
we attended that this morning....
it has been a trying and sad week for us....

On a good note, we attended our 4 year old granddaughters soccer game today
she was awesome and so fun to see her happy little face....
we are attending our great granddaughters 1st birthday party today...soon....
Nellie went to the vet for her lump and it is a fatty tumor....
I am so relieved for that....

I will be back with a few things after things settle down....
just wanted to let you all know!!
