Halloween Plaids

The new challenge starts today at
Double D
and being hosted by Team Darlene
and the theme is
'PLAIDS'
and using the mood board below  for inspiration!

Well, to me plaids make me think of flannel shirts, cool autumn nights
and a nice toasty blanket to curl into.

However, I went an entirely different way with my card..lol!

A few years back I made a few fun witches boot cards for Halloween that I had seen on Pinterest early on,
and while looking for a 'plaid' paper to start off with
I found a Halloween one, so right away I thought of making
a witch boot with it!

I used my Cricut Explore to cut it out,( though I made this one a bit
larger then the two I did in previous years),
and  Cricut Design Space using Happy Hauntings cartridge.

I cut the boot 3 times, twice in black card stock
and once in the Halloween plaid.
The other pieces were cut from black glitter paper and orange card stocks.

I used a purple twill ribbon that I had dyed myself.
when a few years back the rage started
(and is still going strong)with those beautiful
shabby, died twill ribbons, I made several of my own.
I think it is much less messy and easier to just buy them
ready made though!

That about sums it up..pretty easy really as my Cricut Explore
did most of the work for me!

Make sure and head on over to the Double D blog to see  all
the design teams projects.  One thing I love about our teams
is the versatility of the designs from CAS to Shabby Chic
and everything in-between!!

Fall Birthday

It has been a rough week for this grandma around here.
If you read a previous post you saw that we were
headed out for a little 'mini' vacation to see the colors in
northern Michigan.
We had no sooner arrived then I received a phone call
that my grandson Caiden (15) was seriously injured in an ATV accident
so we had to head right back home.
We spent 11 hours on the road that day.

He is in ICU for the next 7 days with a broken back in 2 places
and was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis.
We then drove there to be with him.
He had a 3 1/2 surgery and now it is just a waiting game to see how he improves.
I have to say though that everyday since Friday has been a progress.

So, I needed something to get my thoughts collected
and what better way then to create.

I made a very CAS fall birthday card using some of the
leftover 'snippets' of the watercolor paper using the Nuance powders and water.
I love how these leaves turned out, such pretty colors.

The leaves were cut with the 'large' Impression Obsession leaf dies
then popped up along the side.

The background is just simply a scrap of paper
that I embossed with a Happy Birthday Cuttlebug embossing folder.

A piece of orange hemp cord was added.

Like I said very simple but so pretty!

Autumn Girlfriends

This my post on the
Sparkle N Sprinkle blog today!

Hi, Diane with you today to share with you a tutorial of sorts for
my 'Double Z' fold card using the new stamp set
This card is really very easy to do and I will give you simple
directions, but there are great tutorials on youtube for it as well.
Autumn Girlfriends
You want to start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock.
Cut one piece 4 1/4" x 11"
Score this piece (with the 11" piece along the top)
at 2 3/4" and at 5 1/2" (this is the main base of the card)
Cut the next piece 3 1/2" x 8 1/2"
Score this piece (with the 8 1/2" piece along the top)
at 2 1/8" and at 4 1/4".
Fold as I have shown below.

Autumn Girlfriends
Next you want to cut some pretty paper 'cover' pieces.
For the larger Z part of the card,
cut 1 at 4" x 5 1/4"
and cut 2 pieces at 2 1/2" x 4"
For the smaller part of the Z card,
Cut 1 at 3 1/4" x 4"
and cut 2 pieces at 1 7/8" x 3 1/4"
and 1 piece 3 1/4" x 4"
Autumn Girlfriends
adhere to each z panel as shown
Autumn Girlfriends
Using the photo below for reference, attach the smaller z panel to the larger z panel
Autumn Girlfriends
Now we will make leaves for our card using a Mini Mister,
watercolor paper and the colors of Nuance listed below.
Spray your watercolor paper with water, lightly tap on the nuance color,
spray a bit more and repeat until you are happy with the colors
Autumn Girlfriends
Once dry, cut out the leaves with your desired dies
(I used Impression Obsession small Leaves Dies)
Autumn Girlfriends
I colored the Autumn Girlfriends image with Copics,
then applying a bit of glue with Nuvo Small glue pen
I added Fall Leaves Glitter to the image leaves.
I then attached my 'Nuance" colored leaves.
Autumn Girlfriends
I stamped the rake and the sentiment with Versamark,
then embossed with Gold Fine Detail embossing powder.
I used Spellbinders Label Four to cut out the sentiment.
I also stamped the basket of leaves and used the same
Fall Leaves glitter as I used above.
Autumn Girlfriends
I hope you will give one of these double z folds a try as they are really fun
and turn out so beautifully!
Thank you for visiting with me today!

Season of Blessings

A new challenge is up and running at the
Dies R Us challenge blog and the theme is
'FALL' and/or 'HALLOWEEN'

I started out my card with a black card stock base.

I save all my circle negatives for inking up moons
and that is just what I did for this card.
I used TH Distress Inks wild honey and spiced marmalade.
I placed the moon so my little owl could sit on his branch
right over the moon.

I die cut a tree using
which, by the way is where the little owl came from,
part of the birch tree set.

I cut leaves (lots) using a small leaf from
and adhered them to the tree here and there.

I added a few pumpkins at the bottom of the tree
using die cuts from
and
A few of the same leaves from up above were added around a few pumpkins.

A black cat was die cut  from black metallic paper
with
Do you suppose he is eyeing up that little hoot owl?

Once all that was done, I became very brave and stamped
my sentiment right on the card stock with SU Soft Suede ink.
The sentiment is a very old one from Unity,
I love how nice and large it is!
Whew, I didn't mess it up..lol!

I wanted to mention that ALL the papers used
other than the card stocks
were from my scrap bags of papers.

Join in the challenge with us,
there is always a gift certificate to be won by one lucky entrant
and a Top 3 is also picked by the team!

Spooky Halloween

Happy Birthday To Me...lol
Yep, today is  my birthday
and I am celebrating by doing what ever I want....
well that is kind of not true as I am headed out of town soon
for a weekend at our lake house....
headed 'north' to see all the pretty Fall color
(ours has just started here...amazing the difference 5 1/2 hours can make)

I did however purchase my own birthday present.
I was outgrowing my present 'storage' of my Copics
and had ordered 2 sets of these from Joanns online as they were 40% off
Crafter's Companion Spectrum Noir Marker Storage Trays Black
But then, they had Copics for $3.14 each...WOW...so I ordered 24 pens
only of which 18 have shipped.....
but that meant I needed MORE storage...so I went back to Joann's online
and they no longer have them...but I found them at
Consumer Crafts for just slightly more....and best yet,
I ordered them on Tuesday and they will be here on Thursday (today)
AND
they have $2 shipping all week...
like I said ...Happy Birthday to me...
and I am sure in awe of the FAST shipping...WOW!!

But, before I leave I had to join in this fun challenge  at
as what an awesome photo inspiration
that will allow me to use some of my very many and very neglected
Halloween stamps!

I have had 'creators disaster' all week,
so I did this card 3 times and am still not satisfied with it....
I guess I need that little 'mini' vacation!

It is what it is...
I used 2 very old sets of Stampin Up for this card
House of Haunts
and Home is Where The Haunt Is

Well have to run as we have a birthday dinner in Indiana tonight.

Tomorrow (Thursday)..(can you tell I wrote this the day before)..lol
I have to pack and grab us some food to take
and make sure all the animals will be taken of while we are gone

Have a great week/weekend everyone!

Sunny Days

There is a new challenge going live today at
Our hostess is Terri and she has chosen the theme
'Gingham and Flowers'.

Well, I have to admit, I have a love for both,
making this a super easy challenge for me.

A few years ago I bought a gingham paper pad
from Lilybee Designs called 'double dutch'.
Have to say that pad has been a favorite of mine
but it is close to being gone.

That's where my gingham paper came from,
scraps of it laying on my work table.

The background scene and sentiment are
from G45
'Time To Flourish'.
I seem to have a habit of buying their 'stuff'
then hoarding it!

The gingham ribbon was also laying on my work table
just waiting to be used.

The sunflower I made using a Cheery Lynn Designs Sunflower die.

If you like gingham and if you like flowers,
then you might want to pop on over to
The Sisterhood blog and look at all the inspiration my 'sistahs'
have for you...and you just might want to join in the fun with us!

Step Into The Garden

Happy Tuesday morning to you!
A beautiful 'fall' morning here, it's only about 7:40 and not quite
light yet, but I was outside feeding the barn cats
and checking on my gardens,
but it is so pretty and peaceful,
the creek is shining but very still,
and there was a deer grazing across the creek,
just one of those mornings that you are glad to be a part of!

I am going to start showing my cards I made for the
Tutti Designs store when I have 'free' days on my blog.

This one is using the Garden Arbor die..so pretty!

Being October is a 'PINK" month for cancer awareness,
I decided to go with this card for today.

The dies was cut on a white metallic, shiny paper,
giving it a  nice sheen.
I used a pretty background paper, die cut leaves, pearls to finish.
The sentiment is a JustRite Stamp, I love, love their sentiments!

If you would like to win this entire September release,
go to the Tutti Designs Facebook page
while there is still time and leave a comment there....
Good Luck!
