A Fall Gathering

Hello Friends, it's Diane here today with you on the

Classy Cards 'n Such blog to share my latest fall creation!

I don't know about you, but fall is "my" favorite time of the year.

All the pretty colors, crisp, fresh air, pumpkins, flannels, and just being outside to

harvest what you can.  Have you ever taken a walk through the woods and "gathered"

bits and pieces of fall??  That is what my card is about today.  The "simple things in life"!

 

The first thing I found on my "walk" was a "pine branch" by Impression Obession....

then there were a couple of discarded "feathers" by Cherry Lynn Designs...aren't they pretty?

This is a brand new, just released die called "Quills & Ink Pot"

A few more steps and I found the most beautiful "Maple and Oak" leaves by Impression Obession

and laying close by was a "nutty acorn" by Memory Box!

 

My pine branch, leaves, acorn, and feathers were all painted the colors of fall with

 Autumn Brilliance Twinkling H2O's.  Have you tried these yet??  Once you use them, you will be pulling them out to use over and over.  There is a wonderful selection in the store here!  a quick "tip" for their use....they will arrive "dry", just lightly spritz with water, then paint them on....when done, just leave the lids off until they are dry...just that simple!!

 

The pretty ribbon I used is textured two-tone by May Arts, and the beautiful sentiment is from the Flourishes

set "Autumn Blessings" which I stamped with Dew Drop Brilliance Cosmic Copper.

Ethereal

Good Sunday Morning to you my friends!!

If you read yesterdays post, you know what I have been up to.

I decided to take a much needed and quick break from the project

I mentioned in yesterdays post that I am working on.

 

I have enjoyed the blog "Our Wonderful World" since the day it began.

I don't always have time to comment or post, but I ALWAYS have time to look

at the lovely photos of our beautiful world.

 

I had every intention to submit photos last week, even made an effort to take them...

but that darn old time factor got in the way again...

 

So this week I am sharing a few of my own "ETHEREAL" photos with you

from Michigan...I hope you enjoy them!!

The first photo is of the Mackinac Bridge, if you are not familiar with Michigan

this bridge connects the lower half of Michigan with the upper.

The bridge is 5 miles long one way.

 

 

This next photo is one I took last winter from my window in February....brrr!

Michigan Wonders

So if you all have been wondering where I have been lately...

come on I "KNOW" you miss me..lol

I have been switching my creative room to a back bedroom...and it has been a HUGE job

plus the fact, that I have almost killed myself in the process.  My DH is gone, has been since

Wed and will back tomorrow afternoon, so I have been hustling to get this done...

well, guess what, "it ain't gonna happen".....!!!

What a BIG job, what a BIG mess I have created.....

yesterday while moving an 800 pound table, (I know it weighs at least that much)

I used those mover thingies you see on TV....all good, but when I came thru caring a big load,

including my Big Shot, I stepped on one and went a** over applecart you might say.

Hit my shoulder on the window sil, slammed my good hand and the knee I had already

injured a month ago, into the HARD ceramic tile floor, and my Big Shot went "sailing"

as well....lets just say it came out of the "mishap" better then me....

 

I just can hardly stand it, I have 6 November DT projects to turn in (due Nov 1)

and several challenges I wanted to do, and I here I sit in my mess that looks like

right now a hoarders house that blew up (or maybe that's threw up)!

 

So I am leaving you with a bit of Michigan humor (sadly it's all true)

to get you thru what I am sure you are having (Diane withdrawal)....

to be 58 to 60 here today, and artic weather starting on Monday...that's Michigan my friends!!

Winter White Bendi Card

 

Just wanted to share with you my post at the Classy Cards 'n Such

blog today.

 

Hello, it's Diane here today at Classy Cards 'n Such blog

to share with you a wonderful card I have made using

the "Bendi Card" tutorial that is on "Splitcoast Stampers", there is also a video  

that is by the designer of the tutorial.  I suggest you watch the video as it is very informative.

 

I have seen a few versions of this card, in fact while visiting with

my friends from 3 other states to share ideas, not only did I bring this idea along,

but so did one of the other girls with a different version!!

This is really an easy card to do, I did learn a few tips along the way I will share with you.

I think the hardest part is deciding which dies to use!

For my card, I started with white cardstock and covered both the front and back pieces.....

For the outside I used a glitter paper, but it was a very thick paper Tip: I would choose a

thinner piece next time...it was hard to get it to bend.  The inside was covered with a piece

of paper that I  had on hand...that is what  is so fun, you can use anything you choose!

 

The dies I used on the front of my card are Winter Cabin Landscape by Memory Box

 and Tall Birch by Memory Box

 

 

Inside I used

The Deer Trio by Memory Box, Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer by Cheery Lynn Designs, Snow Flowers Set 2 by cheery Lynn Designs, and Country House by Memory box. 

I am giving you a quick tutorial of the measurements to start with.  The way you decorate it

is up to you.  The ideas are endless with all the wonderful die cuts we can purchase.  I will list a few links below for ideas.

 

You will need to start with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock.

 

Cut this piece at 4 1/4", leaving you with 2 panels measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Cut one of the panels at 2 1/2".  You will now have 1 piece for the base and two pieces for the swinging flaps.

 

Score 1/2" on each end of the swinging flaps.

Trace a line lightly with pencil at 1/2" at the opposite side of the scored line. Tip:  I made my line slightly wider as I wanted my flap a bit bigger.

 

  Hand "free cut" two notches. 

 

Trace a line with pencil on the base piece of cardstock 4" from the end. Tip:  I made mine slightly in more, as I wanted a bit more of a "bend".  Trace a line on the left swinging flap (the bigger one) 2"

from the end.  Mark with pencil on top of those two lines where you will make the slits for the notches to be inserted.  Cut the slits with a hobby blade.  Tip:  I lined up my flaps even with the bottom, and the notches to the markings, so I knew exactly where to cut my slits.

 

Erase all your pencil lines and marks.  Add Scor-tape to the end of flaps on the scored side.

Hand draw the "valleys" at the top of each flap.  Cut "inside" the trace line, adhere flaps to the

base card.  Decorate as desired.

 

   A tip for decorating, when covering your slits with paper,

remember to flip your card over and recut them, and also don't cover up your slits with tape, pop ups, etc. when decorating.  Most of all have fun!!

Santa Bingo

Tattered Poinsettia

I have a few "poinsettia" dies.....

I didn't think I needed the TH Alterations Tattered Poinsettia die....

I soon found out how wrong I was and I had to get it after seeing it

on several other blogs and Pinterest.

I think what really the "selling point" to me was, is when he came out

with the embossing folder for it...Wowza!!

It is beautiful, I wish you could see all the texture on this, it is gorgeous!!

 

 

I cut two of each layer and "painted" on gold Stickles after running it thru the

embossing process!!

 

At Joan's Gardens this week her challenge is

use a product sold at Joan Gardens

use white and gold

use an embossing folder

use pearls

 

At Really Reasonable Ribbon the challenge is Christmas/Winter and Holiday

and to use ribbon, lace, or trim somewhere on your project

 

At Scrapping 4 Fun the challenge is Christmas/Holiday

and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes"

 

The background of my card is the additional embossing folder that comes with

the TH poinsettia one, it is the exact tattered poinsettias, only little!!

My Holly Flourish is cut in gold metallic paper and is a Cheery Lynn Designs die

The white branch is from Impression Obsession

I used gold pearls for the center of my flower and also for my "berries"

I added gold metallic stretchy cord trim and tied a crystal on the bow.

 

I can't wait to make more of these poinsettias in other colors!!

Boy doggie is it raining here this morning!!

Poor trick or treaters!!

Oh course when this posts on Nov 1, it might be sunny, (nope it's not)

I am a little bit ahead of the game...lol!

 

I saw this challenge sketch at "Seize the Sketch"

and saw that Mona Pendleton was their guest this week...

 

 

I have to admit, I am not very good at sketches...

my brain just shuts down, but something clicked right away....

yeah brain!!

 

 

I have this newer set designed by Mona Pendleton herself for My favorite Things...

and I LOVE the dies...I LOVE the stamps...

so pretty together, I could sit and stamp and cut these all day!!

how is that for texture??

Wouldn't it be great for all those mixed media pieces.....
